Community Relations Assistant
Pay Details:
The starting hourly rate for this position is $22.00 per hour.
Summary of Position
This is a part-time seasonal position within the San Diego Gulls Community Relations Department. The Community Relations Assistant will work on programs that support the San Diego Gulls outreach initiatives as well as Gulls Foundation events. The Community Relations department produces programs that will expose our players/coaches to the community, aligning with community partners, making an impact in the San Diego school system, etc. The Community Relations department is charged with building bridges to the San Diego community that will yield tangible and intangible benefits for the San Diego Gulls and its Foundation. The Gulls Community Relations Department will also, at times, plan and execute special events to benefit the San Diego Gulls Foundation-and subsequently the community-through its own programs, activities or fundraisers.

Responsibilities
  • Record and fulfill donation requests including packaging, mailing and distributing donations
  • Assist department with game day activities such as raffles, auctions and surprise puck sales
  • Assist in the execution of special events and appearances related to Community Relations
  • Assist with the organization of San Diego Gulls Foundation Donor Data
  • Assist with the San Diego Gulls charity online auction process
  • Other duties as assigned
Skills
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with diverse populations, inclusive of adults and children of all ages
  • Detail oriented, motivated and a self-starter. Must be able to adapt and prioritize to rapidly changing situations and fast-paced environment
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office)
  • Ability to handle basic cash transactions when necessary
  • Flexible schedule – Must be able to work all home games, nights/weekends and holidays as required
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to be a team player and enjoy working in a team environment
  • Knowledge of San Diego County communities a plus
  • Experience working for a college or professional sports team a plus
  • Prior work with non profit organizations a plus
  • Customer service experience a plus

Education - High School Diploma or Equivalent
