The Opportunity


We are actively seeking dynamic and diverse team member to join us in the role of Part-time Radio Producer in Detroit, MI, in a hybrid work structure.


The Part-time Radio Producer will serve as producer and audio editor and “quality control” supervisor for locally produced programs and on-air announcements. Maintains “Audio Vault” recording and playback system.


Essential Functions


  • Produces and edits WRCJ programs and announcements.
  • Maintains “Audio Vault” digital system through proper file management and configuration.
  • Trouble shoots record/playback issues as needed; serves as liaison to “Audio Vault” manufacturer.
  • Ensures compliance with program logs and other software systems, especially playback of paid spots.
  • Ensures capture and broadcast of syndicated programming.
  • Ensures “quality control” of audio levels and character of recorded material.
  • Operates WRCJ board during live broadcasts.
  • Liaison to Clients renting WRCJ facility.
  • Records Interviews.
  • Maintains digitized audio files and system maintenance records.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills


  • Audio hardware and software command and problem-solving abilities.
  • Thorough knowledge of editing and mixing techniques.
  • Awareness of studio and on-location acoustics.
  • Music performance and/or theory background desirable.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Qualifications


  • Keen knowledge of radio broadcast equipment.
  • Knowledge of Audio Vault, Adobe Audition and other computer programs.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Creative talent a plus.

Physical Demands


  • Ability to transport and set up recording hardware equipment up to 40 pounds.
  • Travel to music performance locations for rehearsal and broadcast.
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately in high pressure environments.

Work Environment


  • Work closely with performing artists in studio and remote locations.
  • Set up and break down equipment before and after multi-hour performances.
  • Ability to work accurately and quietly in low light situations.
