To help us achieve this, we are seeking someone to join the platforms team to execute our day-to-day video strategy across AJC.com, the AJC mobile app and other platforms.

This person will work closely with the Platforms Editor and Video Lead, managing the distribution and placement of content from the video production team across all platforms. They will manage multiple players, ensuring that each video has maximum reach and engagement. They will also work to ensure that related videos are attached to popular articles on AJC.com.

This position will be a part of efforts to test, measure and iterate on a variety of strategies to build audience and increase engagement, with a strong emphasis on results and metrics-driven decision making.

While this position allows hybrid work, it will be based in metro Atlanta and the producer will be expected to be onsite in our Atlanta office regularly.

In this position you will:


  • In partnership with the Platforms Lead - Video, execute daily plans for video presentation across the main site and mobile apps, with the goal of increasing engagement and CTRs
  • Place video during breaking news (during shift hours) on AJC.com homepage, video pages and article pages
  • Showcase our highest-value content and grow audience engagement with all of our products
  • Work with leaders to execute strategy for increasing engagement with video content on our platforms
  • Work closely with the video production team, to ensure maximum engagement for their content


Qualifications:

What we expect you to have to be ready:


  • Bachelor's degree preferably in a related field
  • With a BA, at least 2 years of experience as a digital producer in a fast-paced operational role. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and up to 2 years' experience; a Ph.D. and up to 1 year of experience; or 6 years' experience in a related field without a degree.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a video programming role in a fast-paced operational environment
  • Experience in managing news platforms to drive reader engagement and build brand
  • Experience in journalism and strong news judgment
  • Knowledge on the most recent trends in digital video
  • An ability to take and give constructive criticism
  • Passion and belief in local, regional and statewide journalism and its role as a societal change agent
  • Familiarity and experience in using audience metrics to drive tactical as well as strategic decisions on video production and resource allocation
  • Understanding of journalism standards and media ethics
  • Reliable automobile transportation required.
  • Reliable internet service for remote work environment required.
  • Ability to work weekend and unusual hours as dictated by news events


Preferred Experience in one or more of the following:


  • Newspapers, magazines, media, technology, or related field
  • Experience working in a breaking news environment
  • Social, interactive, or digital media


Education:


  • Bachelor's degree preferably in journalism, product development, or related field
  • Direct experience in a similar role may be substituted for education


USD 28.08 - 42.12 per hour

Compensation:

Hourly base pay rate is $28.08 - $42.12/hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.

Benefits:

Employees are eligible to receive a minimum of sixteen hours of paid time off every month and seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, parental leave, and COVID-19 vaccination leave.
