Work Arrangement:

This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Design Center in Warren, MI on a full-time basis.

The Role:

The General Motors Creative Design organization is transforming the future of transportation and mobility solutions. An integral part of that organization is our Global Creative Visualization (GCV) team.

The GCV team is seeking a 3D and Compositing Artist to create sophisticated, cinematic content from high-level creative input, visualizing complex scenes, replicating camera angles, and the seamless placement of CG elements into live action scenes with cinematic quality.

The position requires close collaboration with leads and supervisors, as well as designers to ensure the story and output aligns with the studio’s quality expectations, narrative and messaging. Executed tracking, lighting, motion, live action integration and compositing must be photoreal. Members of the GCV team must have excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to follow feedback/art direction with a keen attention to detail.

Applicants must be self-motivated and have current knowledge of photorealistic postproduction techniques, including 3d/2d integration with detailed CGI multi-pass workflows.

What You'll Do:

  • Creation of broadcast/film quality photorealistic animation projects for automotive reveal activities.
  • Being a subject matter expert and knowledge base for Compositing and CGI work. Up to date with industry standard techniques and practice.
  • Comfortable executing R&D and creative/technical exploration.
  • Working closely with Leads and Supervisor to keep projects on track, insuring all deadlines and review dates are met. Integrating all feedback and insuring quality is of the highest level through self-critique.
  • Interfacing directly with Studio teams to ensure the most accurate representation of Design intent.

Additional Job Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • College degree with a major in a Art/Design based discipline or commensurate experience
  • Experience (3+ years) in Professional VFX/Animation production, actively compositing and creating CGI assets at a broadcast/film standard shown through a demo reel.
  • Expereince executing projects from start to finish
  • Maya/Vred/Nuke/Unereal pipeline experience preferred.
  • Proven vehicle-based animation experience are also highly valued.
  • You must submit a portfolio or demo reel demonstrating a very high level of compositing and CGI ability over varied professional production projects
