POSITION SUMMARY:
The Dallas Mavericks are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Corporate Communications Assistant to support the team’s communications efforts. This role requires a candidate who excels in organization, meets deadlines consistently, demonstrates impeccable grammatical skills, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail, a passion for clear and effective communication, and a team-oriented mindset.
JOB FUNCTION:
Daily Media Monitoring:
Research, compile and format daily media clips in preparation for distribution to the Mavericks front office. This includes monitoring print, digital, television, and radio mentions to capture relevant coverage focused on basketball-related news, business developments, and any broader stories that might impact the Mavericks or be of interest to the organization.
Content Review & Proofreading:
Review all Mavs.com/news stories to ensure accuracy, clarity, and alignment with the tone outlined by company policies, while working closely with the writers to make corrections and suggest edits to the document as needed.
Memo Drafting:
Assist the Corporate Communications team with drafting press releases and media materials, as well as internal communication memos and event recaps, ensuring all content aligns with the organization’s messaging and tone.
Asset Management & Organization:
Assist the Corporate Communications team through organization, labeling, and maintaining a library of photo, video and broadcast assets for use across various communications platforms and historical cataloging.
General Support
Perform additional duties as assigned to support the Corporate Communications team and broader organizational goals.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Pursuing a degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Strong writing and proofreading skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with media monitoring tools and content management systems is a plus.
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
