The NFL Media Group is seeking an accomplished Senior Director within its NFL Media Owned and Operated (O&O) Strategy & Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) group. This role requires an individual with a deep understanding of the dynamic nature of the current media industry and a demonstrated background leading sophisticated strategic planning initiatives. In this critical role, you will spearhead the strategic planning process to grow revenue, profitability, and strategic value of the NFL's O&O media platforms (NFL+, NFL Digital Properties, and NFL Network). Furthermore, this leadership position will be responsible for developing and communicating strategic plan updates to influential stakeholders across the NFL. This role will report to the Vice President of NFL Media's O&O Strategy and DTC group and be responsible for leading a small team of strategy professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Drives all aspects of strategic planning activities for NFL Media's O&O business, in partnership with the executive team and other key stakeholders
  • Partners with senior leaders to guide the planning that produces the group's strategic plans while ensuring alignment with broader NFL-wide planning processes, including long-range planning, annual business/budget planning, quarterly business reviews, and NFL ownership meetings
  • Leverages understanding of consumer, media, and technology trends to oversees the development of long-term strategic roadmaps for key strategic initiatives, including NFL+
  • Engages across the organization to implement strategic roadmap elements within current execution plans to achieve the group's business objectives
  • Identify areas of opportunity for value creation to drive revenue growth, operating profitability, and strategic positioning
  • Assesses complex, strategic opportunities and recommends actions to be taken, such as: new opportunity spaces and growth levers, go-to-market approach, customer experience and retention strategies
  • Works with internal colleagues and external sources to monitor our business environments for impactful trends and provide perspective on impact to the business; translates trends into actionable data insights that are useful in driving impactful decision-making.
  • Structures and builds sophisticated financial models for pivotal business development opportunities and growth strategies.
  • Develops executive-level presentations summarizing key insights and recommended strategies.
  • Supports change management and staff communication activities where necessary to help share the strategy and supporting business drivers.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in the fields of business, finance, economics, applied mathematics or related field
  • Proven track record (10+ years) of leadership in media strategy and operations, ideally within the entertainment, broadcasting, or digital media sectors
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all organizational levels
  • Strong business and financial acumen with experience in financial management, budgeting, and P&L responsibility
  • Strong analytical skills with a quantitative approach to problem solving and comfort with data ambiguity
  • Exceptional Power-Point and presentation development skills with a keen eye to storytelling
  • Deep understanding of media industry trends, digital content strategies, and audience behavior
  • Ability to work with business owners to define key business questions and to build data sets that answer those questions
  • Demonstrated bias for action with strengths in problem solving and issue-resolution
  • Ability to work in a deadline driven work environment with attention to detail and ability to multitask
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and discuss business and technical concepts, schedule tradeoffs and evaluate opportunistic new ideas
  • Experience with quantitative consumer research (writing surveys, developing fan inputs, survey data analytics, etc.)
  • Extensive experience with quantitative modeling (structuring outputs, guiding data collection, pressure test findings, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred
  • Deep understanding of linear television, digital, and direct-to-consumer landscape including current and emerging platforms and content consumption trends
  • Overall knowledge of sports, and passion for the NFL specifically
  • Prior work experience with the NFL and/or another sports league is preferred

Terms / Expected Hours of Work

  • Full-time NFL employees are required to work 40 hours per week. This role may occasionally require work during nights, weekends and/or holidays.
