NY CHAPTER NATIONAL ACADEMY OF TELEVISION ARTS & SCIENCE
AWARDS & EVENT DIRECTOR
The purpose of the position is to support the fulfillment of the National Academy’s mission on a regional level in a way that reflects positively on the Academy and the Emmy Awards; to promote the image of the Emmy as the premier television award; to serve the membership and the Board working with these stakeholders to create improvement in the awards processes and events and thereby enhance the image of the organization. The New York Chapter serves all television markets in New York State, as well as much of New Jersey and Connecticut and includes members from TV-related fields including: news and non-news broadcasting; production; post production; education; advertising; and public relations.
Responsibilities
Works in concert with the Executive Director to together perform the following duties:
- Forecast and manage budget for Chapter. Works with confidential material.
· Hires and Manages Independent Contractors for project-based work
- Work with Awards Chair to create and run all awards contests: EMMY, Creative Arts & Sports
- Create and distribute the Chapter’s Call for Entries, answer inquiries from members and submitters.
- Timely update EMMY Express, updating categories, pricing, dates and video requirements.
- Create Nomination Announcements on a timely basis.
- Event Plans, manages and executes annual awards show for approximately 800 attendees annually. Researches and suggests venues and obtained availability and costs. Reviews and negotiates for venue and hotel contracts. Develops banquet event orders for catering, reservations and convention services. Selects and orders Premiums for attendees and clients. Manages ticket sales and seating arrangements. Helps coordinate e-commerce set-up and maintenance. Provides on- and off-site management of meetings and special events.
- Hires and manages all A/V & Media Services for award show. Produces rundowns for show and program. Manages all presenters, speakers and Circe Inductees.
- Explore and initiate opportunities to grow Chapter. Seek corporate sponsorships.
- With respect to all above duties, maintain electronic and accessible files of all work.
- Assist Executive Director with monthly Board meetings
- Attend monthly Emmy Express meetings and give feedback on necessary updates
- Field and direct all calls from Chapter Members
- Write and distribute email, correspondence with over 1200 Chapter members
- Regularly maintain database for Chapter members
- Provide general support to all Chapter members
- Liaise with Board Members to handle monthly requests/questions
- Arranges and facilitates judging trades with the other regional chapters.
- Distribute all emails to members for judging trades
- Maintain judging records for each member
- Assist in development of yearly Awards Show program and gather all necessary materials
- Assist Executive Director in planning of yearly Awards Show
- Develop new ideas for maintaining healthy relationship with members.
- Maintain Social media sites for Chapter: Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
- Perform weekly and monthly maintenance on Chapter webpages.
- Coordinate with Awards Company to execute all Awards Production and Shipping
- Track and maintain all online orders for products
- Organize statuette, plaque and name plate orders & commemorative awards throughout the year.
Skills
Minimum ten years’ experience as an Event / Content Producer or Production Manager. Extensive knowledge about the Tristate area’s media organizations and people. Self-motivated with minimal supervision, work well under pressure, meet deadlines, attention to detail, manage multiple tasks, decision-making skills, project management skills, ability to learn and adapt quickly, accountability for personal work product, excellent oral/written communication skills, strong command of computer applications, advanced spreadsheet, database and word processing skills, website maintenance, advanced data analysis skills, analytical and strategic thought process, strong interpersonal skills, ability to manage and lead teams to project completion, “can do attitude.” This position is a full-time remote position but may require some travel to produce local events or to attend national meetings or to attend duties in office when Executive Director or Board require.
Compensation – salary range $95,000 - $125,000 Commensurate with experience

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. $95,000 -to $125,00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual discretionary bonus, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, the NY Chapter provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
