Your New Role…

CNN’s London-based Associate Lighting Director & Vision Control will operate and manage lighting and vision needs for CNN. They will perform the daily responsibilities associated with maintaining the image quality of CNN’s studio broadcasts, under direction from the Lighting Director & Vision Supervision.

Your Role Accountabilities…

  • Perform daily studio lighting and vision operations working closely with the Design, Operations, Editorial and Engineering departments to assure the highest visual image standards are being met.

  • Assist with installation and maintenance of lighting equipment at CNN facilities.

  • Closely collaborate with other department members and actively contribute to the overall creative and technical atmosphere of the department and networks.

  • Assist with the lighting & vision designs in studio and for remote projects when assigned, to include all aspects of the lighting design, vision control, budget creation, direction and oversight of labour.

  • Assist with the launch of new shows.

  • In the absence of Lighting Director & Vision Supervisor in London, can step into their role and has the authority to make decisions.

  • In the absence of Lighting Director & Vision Supervisor in London, can manage lighting/vision labour and scheduling necessary to insure on-going daily broadcast production remains operational.

  • May be expected to travel regionally and internationally at short notice.

Qualifications & Experience…

  • Significant demonstrated technical knowledge in the areas of lighting design, vision control, console programming, system maintenance and event rigging

  • Ability to work with creative people under stringent time pressures and generate creative visual concepts that enhance the production process.

  • Ability to work independently, within a team and take direction from others

  • Should demonstrate organisational skills, communication skills, technical knowledge and creativity.

  • Desirable: Technical certifications in system repair, moving light repair, console programming, MEWP operation (IPAF), Electrical Safety (BS7909).

  • Desirable: Background in television production skills besides lighting design.

Hybrid Working - This role is advertised as a Hybrid work model, that combines remote and in-office work, following our current company policy and to be agreed with your Line Manager. Subject to any applicable laws, WBD / your Line Manager reserves the right to change this working agreement where this is essential to business needs and upon reasonable notice to you.
