SUMMARY

The Entertainment Operations Manager is responsible for the overall operational success of live events and the associated venues. Ensuring operational effectiveness and the highest level of customer service is achieved. This role will provide daily supervision of all operational staff including all front of house, technical, ticket taker, and security. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training; planning, assigning and directing work, payroll, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining team members, addressing concerns and resolving them in a timely manner. The overall operations, technical, and financial success of each venue will be managed by this individual to ensure the overall departments success.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead an entertainment team of Showroom Supervisor, Box Office Supervisor, and other personnel from operational departments to ensure seamless, exciting events for our guests
  • Provide leadership to the teams in accomplishing department goals
  • Maximize effective communication and department organization
  • Work independently while being organized and detail oriented
  • Design and maintain standard operating procedures
  • Coordinate all safety, OSHA and risk management initiatives
  • Advances performance dates and technical rider with each show
  • Supervises load-in, set-up, sound checks, show performance, strike, and load out
  • Follow Union Contracts for all collective bargaining employees
  • Maintain relationship with Union Representatives if part of a CBA
  • Provide motivation, guidance, training, and general direction to all staff
  • Participate in the hiring and managing of technical staff, ushers, and showroom hosts
  • Maintain standards and effectively enforce policies and procedures
  • Provide a safe environment for staff and guests
  • Review guest service issues and act when necessary
  • Assist with VIP guests to ensure service standards are consistently met
  • Maintain a positive report with other departments
  • Review and maintain financials including vendor payments, P&L analysis, and purchasing
  • Generate budgets to support ongoing operations, events, maintenance, and capital
  • Ensure that expenses are properly coded and managed appropriately
  • Assure repairs and maintenance of showroom equipment
  • Implement plans to minimize payroll expenditures
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with artists, management, and promoters
  • Oversee all artist related rooming and transportation requirements
  • Lead show changes, installations, and modifications as needed
  • Maintain daily show reports
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director-Technical Operations and Entertainment Director

ADDITIONAL DUTIES/JOB DIMENSIONS

Regular attendance and conformance with company standards which may be established by Entertainment Department from time to time is essential. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

5 years of experience in venue management or related fields, 2 years at a Manager level or above. Bachelor’s degree preferred. In-depth knowledge of event operations including front of house, back of house, box-office, and other general areas. Possess excellent skills in staff management, budget management, project management and problem solving. General knowledge of technical elements for communication purposes with technical team.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must qualify for, obtain and maintain any necessary licenses including OSHA 30

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English. Ability to effectively write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense and understanding in order to effectively carry out written or oral instructions.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must possess basic budgeting, accounting and financial skills. Ability to work in a drug free environment and pass a chemical dependency test as required. Must possess proficiencies in Excel, Word and PowerPoint applications. CAD or Photoshop skills are a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to climb stairs, standing for long periods of time, requires substantial walking, bending, lifting and working in a smoke-filled environment.
