Job Summary/Description:

This position works to build and execute on-air, online, and streaming weather forecasts for KLTV newscasts in the morning and evening on weekends. During the week this forecaster fills in on newscasts, as well as executes digital and streaming weathercasts, and helps to build forecast graphics and data as well.

This position covers AM and PM weekend weather shifts in addition to filling in on other shifts and shifts with severe weather coverage as needed. This position works closely with the weather team to create content for our live streaming platform, mobile apps, and social media.
This position generally works a 4-day work week.

Duties/Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

- Anchor weekend shows (Sat 8a- 10a, 6p,10p, Sun 8a, 10p)
  • Update "East Texas Now", as well as KLTV and KTRE mobile apps
  • Monitor and update social media posts
  • Create weather storytelling content and graphics for all platforms
  • Assist other Meteorologists during severe coverage
  • Fill in for weekday Meteorologists
  • Provide live coverage in the field from our Storm Tracker
  • Make school and community appearances on behalf of the station

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Meteorology or related field(Candidate should have or be working toward Meteorology degree.)
  • Internship,1-2 years weather forecasting experience, preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with digital video cameras, non-linear editing, and Social Media platforms
  • Valid Driver's License
