Program Eligibility:
- Currently enrolled at an accredited two or four-year college/university in the United States, pursing an undergraduate, graduate and/or law degree
- Graduating between Spring 2024-Fall 2026
- Have access to housing and transportation within the designated city (We do not offer housing accommodations)
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S. and will not require sponsorship for employment visa status now or in the future (e.g., H1-B, CTP, OPT, etc.)
- Commit to 20-40 hours per week (based on individual business area)

How You’ll CREATE:
Copyright Administration:
The copyright administration team works to verify and enter song data, ensure proper registration at the PROs, solve conflicts and disputes, and support the Publishing department and company as a whole.
This is a research and data heavy internship in Excel. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with song entry, updating our cut songs tracker to ensure they are registered at the PROs with the correct data, chase info if the song is missing, request updates at the PROs to our registrations, perform catalog audits for our writers (lots of work in Excel), and other assignments as required.
Data & Analytics:
Playlisting tracking
TikTok tracking, new releases
Full roster social listening
Create ad hoc reports for team as needed
Examine trends of different types of songs and subgenres
Deliver data focused projects to answer ongoing business challenges in the form of new datasets, dashboards and visualizations.
Film & TV Clearance/Licensing:
Synchronization occurs when a musical work is synchronized in timed, linear relation with visual images. Examples of this might be for background, theme, and featured uses in motion pictures, television shows or videogames.
The Universal Music Publishing Film & TV Licensing team receives these synch requests and negotiates the terms/fees for the licenses.

Global Administration (UMPG):
Covering core Global Administration functions, interns will be required to assist the following departments during their placement at UMPG:
Global Data Services
Global Copyright
Global Royalty
Global Compliance
Regional Administration
The interns will spend time learning and moving between teams, following the administration life cycle from basic system understating to more advanced knowledge of UMPG's administrative systems and processes
Basic royalty matching and ingestion of data into UMPG core systems
Song entry, metadata research and enrichment
Registration of new and amended copyrights with different societies, service providers and partners on a global scale
Both regularized and bespoke Copyright reporting for internal and external recipients
Preparation and reconciliation of incoming royalty statements for processing and calculation
Royalty reporting, helping to assist with financial reconciliation and sign-off
Analysis of control procedures to ensure UMPG's compliance processes remain effective
Assistance with engagement calls across other offices and regions
Work with UMPG's client portal and customer service teams globally to resolve client issues
Finance (UMe):
UMe Finance oversees the US catalog for UMG. Working with various departments for financial support, responsible for planning/forecasting, Compliance, and month end reporting
Month end close responsibilities
Building annual corporate plan deck
Financial/data analysis on various areas of UMe’s business

Global Finance (UMPG):
The global finance team is responsible for the financial reporting and consolidation of the global music publishing results, as well as the oversight of the control environment. Outside of these FP&A duties, the team is responsible for investment analysis related to cash spend for the publishing business (i.e., new songwriter deals, acquisitions, etc.).

Production (UMe):
Production is the product collaboration hub for many UMe teams and outside partners. We work together to deliver physical, digital audio and video assets to and through the Supply Chain.

Production (Bravado):
Global Supply chain team overlooking Planning, Product Development, Production and Operations
Revenue:
The revenue team handles all revenue streams ranging from streaming, physical sales, ecommerce, new technology, fan experiences, and merch. We are also very deeply rooted in analytics ranging from pre post release metrics, fan affinities, and global performance assessment. The intern for our department will be fully immersed in all aspect of our department and leave with a solid working knowledge of each.
As mentioned above, our program features an immersive dive into three primary areas. Streaming, Physical/Ecommerce Sales, and Analytics.
Our intern will spend a minimum of 2 weeks with each of these teams learning all aspects of that's teams responsibilities.
Our intern will be responsible for tracking new releases on release day, helping the analytics team gauge performance, and developing strategies for project launches to name a few.
Lastly, at the beginning of our program, our intern will be given a "comp" artist in which they will analyze that project using everything they have learned. They will then apply it to an upcoming Verve artist and make recommendations based on their findings.
Royalties:
Royalties - Process inbound royalty statements, maintain royalty rate setups, and report royalty statements to our writers and artists.
Track & maintain budgets for marketing and recording costs related to our artist's projects. Assist with forecasting process for label internal and external reporting. Process inbound royalty statements for our artists and writers. Assist with royalty rate setup by reviewing artist contractual terms.
Sync:
Monthly TV News updates
Track film and television release date
Research publishing information in R2 and CLA
Find clips of syncs in use
Help updating our artist grid and roster
Import catalog songs into DISCO
Manage and updating metadata in our DISCO account
Source new client contact data
Tour (Bravado):
Bravado Tour Department: We handle merchandise sales around the globe working with many UMG offices and teams. It is an extremely fast paced environment, with things changing daily with multiple projects happening at the same time.
Manage Itinerary database
Confirm and receive show settlement reports for finance team.
Create/maintain excel spreadsheets for various projects.
Minor creative worked related price signs and merchandise displays.
Touring & Events:
This is a unique, multi-faceted internship which will assist the entire Touring & Special Events team with a variety of projects, administrative and operational support tasks which will illustrate the fundamental building blocks needed to begin a career in the Touring business. This is an extremely dynamic department and an internship with this team will teach resourcefulness, poise, humor in the face of challenges, and the ability to work quickly, calmly, and accurately under deadline.
Research new venues and event locations
Update internal documents such as concert calendars and resource tracking grids in a shared drive.
Help with on-site show and event coverage as needed
Assist with production of special events, including liaising with vendors and processing invoices
