Job Description
We're one of the most storied brands in consumer books, and we're innovating every day to market and promote emerging authors to a large audience. As we push increasingly into collaborations and activations, we are looking for an outcomes-oriented and culturally savvy Director, Brand Marketing to help us build our up-funnel marketing efforts with flair and a hospitality-mindset. The successful candidate will be able to develop and lead the execution of collaborations and events, as well as build an effective PR and communications function. This is a high-profile role that will report to either the Executive Chairman or CEO.
What you’ll do:
Partnerships & Collaborations
- Participate in discussions with potential partners to conceptualize, vet, develop and execute collaborations that deliver positive business impact.
- Accurately understand the Company’s objectives, external parties’ objectives, and where they overlap and diverge.
- Create compelling pitch materials and conduct relevant business analysis.
- Project manage partnerships and coordinate with internal groups to seamlessly execute collaborations (e.g., Product, Creative, Marketing, Editorial and Member Experience).
- Over time, demonstrate the ability to initiate successful new collaborations on your own.
Events & Activations
- Project-manage and execute company events and activations at a high level of detail.
- Manage vendor relationships; including vetting, negotiating and coordinating.
- Lead “run of show execution” that delivers exceptional guest experiences.
- Over time, conceptualize and propose new events and activations to generate meaningful business impact.
- Support our upcoming centennial in a meaningful and high-impact way that’s aligned with our brand.
PR & Communications
- Create compelling press materials, such as pitches, media kits, profiles, and talking points for various audiences.
- Serve as day-to-day contact for external agencies and publications.
- Serve as host for relevant journalists and other company guests at relevant events.
- Identify and develop opportunities for BOTM to engage in culturally relevant trends.
- Over time, become an effective spokesperson and representative of the Company for external parties.
About you:
- 7+ years of experience in complex events, special projects, and/or communications roles in entertainment, fashion, media, hospitality or branded consumer technology
- Strong relationship-building skills; a strong existing professional network is a plus
- Strong project management and communication skills (both writing and speaking)
- Ability to use data and financial acumen to inform decision making
- A flair for details, hospitality and a sense for what makes events distinctive and successful
- Deep understanding of consumer brands relevant to gen-z and millennial audiences
- Enjoyment of contemporary literature and familiarity with the BOTM brand is a strong plus
- You are a social person who likes going out at night
Salary Range: $150,000 - $200,000
