Position Summary
The Film & Media Studies Program at William & Mary, a public university of the Commonwealth of Virginia, invites applications for a three-year, non-tenure track Assistant Teaching Professor instructional position that will begin August 10, 2025. This full-time teaching faculty appointment carries a service component commensurate with rank and comes with the possibility of ongoing renewals and a framework for promotion.

We seek an individual with expertise in film and/or media arts production with an emphasis on digital media. The successful applicant will be expected to be an effective teacher and will have a [3-3] teaching load. This job involves teaching both media arts production and introductory film & media studies classes. The successful applicant must further have the ability to teach compelling courses in digital media production and other lecture and seminar-style courses, including courses focused on the use of industry standard software.


Required Qualifications
MFA (or equivalent terminal degree) in Digital Media or similar field at the time of appointment (August 10, 2025). Ability to teach advanced courses in digital media production and a demonstrated ability to teach introductory film & media studies courses and/or introductory film & media production courses. Ability to use and teach, at both introductory and advanced levels, industry standard software relevant to the position (e.g., Premiere, Audition, After Effects, etc).

Preferred Qualifications
College-level teaching experience. Previous film/media industry experience.
Skills and experience in animation, VFX, virtual production, or other areas of practical production such as directing, producing, cinematography, editing, and sound design are desirable, as are any of the following: color grading, motion graphics, distribution, and/or client-based video production.
