Who You Are:
Job Overview: The Vice President, Acquisitions oversees Kino Lorber’s new film slate acquisitions as well as catalogue films.

This role is responsible for negotiating new film acquisitions and also catalogue film renewals. Internally, the position works closely with the New Release Theatrical team including Marketing, PR and Theatrical distribution. This role will also work closely with Finance to solicit projections from various departments to run an acquisition profile/offer. Externally, this position will work with sales agents to track film productions and festival premieres and will negotiate to both acquire new films and renew expiring films in our library. The position will be supported on acquisitions with assistance and oversight by the head of the department. This position will also be expected to attend film festivals and create and manage film festival screening schedules and manage consolidating film screening coverage. This position will be a central role in the department and will be relied upon to foster a collaborative and collegial team approach with frequent communication via updates and department meetings.
What You'll Do:
  • Negotiate new film acquisitions and the renewals for expiring library titles.
  • Track films in production and their first festival premieres.
  • Build and maintain relationships with film industry partner/agents.
  • Maintain acquisition budgets and payment terms
  • Attend film festivals and industry events both domestically and internationally
  • Represent Kino Lorber at industry gatherings and establish new contacts.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and emerging opportunities.
  • Be a responsible and responsive team player
What You Bring:
  • BA in Film/Media Studies or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of experience in film acquisition and distribution.
  • Proven track record in negotiating and securing film rights.
  • Strong team player skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency with Excel and Power Point programs
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Deep understanding of the film industry and market trends.

This role is based in New York, New York and is hybrid. Currently, that includes two days in the office and three days remote.
