Job Summary/Description:

WVUE-TV is looking for an experienced, aggressive, and innovative Chief Investigative Reporter with at least 5 years of experience to join our local, award-winning team. The Reporter will work closely with the Investigative Producer and Investigative Photographer to produce powerful, impactful stories. The ideal candidate should have a track record of digging up stories that make a difference and rely heavily on public record requests and large datasets. We're looking for someone who can assist and enhance our enterprise work. WVUE values quality over quantity. Our investigative reporter will have the time and tools to do stories that expose the truth and get results.

Duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Researching, writing, and gathering content for investigative stories.
  • Produce investigations with a strong digital and social media-driven strategy.
  • Establish contacts in the field, manage tips, compose and manage open records requests, and conduct interviews
  • Take ownership of the overall coverage of investigative content on all digital platforms.
  • Perform investigations which may include undercover work or surveillance.
  • Assist other Reporters on investigative content.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • At least 5 years experience in newsgathering and/or production of investigative stories.
  • BS/BA in Journalism/Communications or equivalent background.
  • Flexibility with respect to scheduling and/or assigned work shifts, especially considering the nature of weather events.
