Job Description

The Editorial Manager will actively participate in planning, creating, and reviewing editorial and creative content for our client work. They will develop and enforce style guidelines to ensure consistent standards that meet our clients’ needs, train team members through workshops and presentations, and review editorial deliverables. The Editorial Manager will work closely with Content Enrichment Managers and Specialists to ensure that templates and briefs are followed and executed correctly.

The Editorial Manager will liaise with Account, Business, Content Enrichment, and Production points of contact to maintain and develop fluctuating Scopes of Work, inform contracts and project budgets, plan and implement workflows, represent editorial directly with existing clients, and pursue potential work with new clients. The Editorial Manager will collaborate globally when cross-regional deliverables are pitched, revised, or developed.

Responsibilities

  • Review editorial deliverables and provide feedback to team members
  • Develop and enforce editorial strategy for our client and review all editorial initiatives
  • Maintain style guidelines for consistent execution of all content
  • Line manage members of a growing editorial team
  • Train and mentor our editorial team, Content Enrichment Specialists, and Managers and support the development of non-native English speaking contributors
  • Develop our capacity for sourcing and expressing actionable and meaningful insights based on research and data
  • Assist in topic ideation, from helping others source topics and insights through to workshopping topic ideas and developing them further
  • Collaborate with Client, Account, Enrichment, and Production points of contact to review projects and discuss any changes in editorial approach
  • Collaborate with the Global Editorial Team for training 1021 teams on tone of voice & writing style, research, and guidelines for consistency across all projects
  • Coordinate with the Senior Director, Global Editorial and associated stakeholders on aligning regional editorial approaches with global, international standards
  • Provide direction on data approach for deliverables and troubleshoot issues with data access if/when required
  • Pitch, scope, and develop Special Projects (as needed)

Required Experience:

  • Minimum 3+ years experience in an editorial role where copyediting was/is a core function
  • Bachelors or higher degree in journalism, copywriting, and/or copyediting (or related discipline i.e. English Literature, Creative Writing, Marketing etc.)
  • Demonstrable experience within a professional capacity of:
    • Creating, following, and enforcing editorial guidelines
    • Working with non-native English speaking team members in an editorial capacity
    • Line management or team leadership experience
    • Creating and leading training sessions and workshops for editorial and non-editorial stakeholders
    • Attending client calls and meetings as a key/sole editorial point of contact
    • Ideating and producing topics and briefs for a range of editorial projects
    • Project management (i.e. planning, budgeting, and creating scopes of work for editorial projects)
    • Working remotely and within multicultural teams
  • Comfortable working with:
    • Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides)
    • Data management tools
    • Content/Project Management Systems (i.e. Monday.com)

Preferred Qualities:

  • A keen interest in/knowledge of pop culture, social media trends and creators, and trending video content
  • Strong familiarity with memes, hit songs and content trends in pop culture including music, dance, gaming, beauty, fashion, film, TV, pets, comedy, and/or sports
  • Familiar with popular social media platforms including YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, Twitter, Twitch, Clubhouse, etc.
  • Cross-discipline skills like design (graphics and video) and data analysis

Starting Salary Range (United States): USD 98,000 - 120,000/year
