Job Description
Overview: Mythical seeks, for the first time ever, a highly-experienced, strategic, and creative-minded Senior Director of Optimization & Analytics who will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing content across several digital distribution platforms (YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, podcasts (audio/video), FAST, Mythical Society and more). This position will report to the Sr. Vice President of Audience Growth, who is responsible for the marketing, optimization, and growth strategy across all content and distribution channels.
Responsibilities:
- Data Analysis
- Analyze data from various distribution channel analytic dashboards to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement
- Utilize advanced analytics and data visualization tools to provide actionable insights and recommendations
- Monitor and evaluate growth initiatives, including ROI, customer acquisition costs, and lifetime value
- Conduct competitive data analysis to deliver actionable recommendations, identifying trends and opportunities for strategic positioning
- Insight & Optimization Generation
- Provide optimization recommendations across macro content programming strategies, as well as micro, daily, individual-video recommendations (title, thumbnail, and metadata)
- Develop actionable recommendations for effectively reaching, engaging, and retaining new audiences
- Recommend A/B testing as needed, leading these experiments, and sharing insights and recommendations
- Continuously optimize library content and performance
- Playlist creation, keyword tagging, construction of Info and End Cards, and optimization of other associated metamedia and metadata
- Channel settings optimization, modifying channel bio, tags, links, and artwork
- Content Management
- Work in tandem and close coordination with the Content Operations team, responsible for the QC, Caption Generation, and Upload of all content
- Analyze potential monetization or IP enforcement issues and communicate with senior management and YouTube reps to navigate before issues arise
- Management of monetization and brand restriction settings
- Reporting and Communication
- Prepare and present regular reports to department leads, translating complex data and insights into actionable, clear recommendations
- Technology & Tools Management
- Develop and maintain dashboards to monitor key performance metrics, ensuring real-time visibility into business performance
- Regularly update and refine dashboard features based on internal feedback and evolving business needs
- Cross-Company Collaboration
- In addition to supporting our key content verticals, collaborate with other Mythical departments (Ecommerce, Touring, Special Projects) to support business goals and marketing initiatives
- Willingness to be responsive after-hours and on weekends if needed
Requirements:
- 7+ years of experience in digital media analytics and optimization with a strong understanding of audience growth and acquisition.
- 3+ years of experience with a YouTube-native digital media publisher
- Experience with various digital marketing tools and platforms (e.g., YouTube Creator Studio, Google Analytics, CRM systems, social media analytics).
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while remaining highly organized and detail-oriented
- Excellent work ethic and a positive, can-do attitude
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A talent for anticipating production needs and a drive to take initiative
- This role is required to be in-office, in Burbank, CA, 2-3 days per week
