Founded in 2022 by Peter Chernin, North Road Company is a global, multi-genre studio that produces scripted, documentary, and unscripted film and TV content for global markets. North Road comprises market-leading production entities, including Chernin Entertainment, Red Arrow Studios’ U.S. assets (Kinetic Content, Left/Right, and 44 Blue Productions); Karga Seven, Perro Azul, Words + Pictures, a premium non-fiction business; and an international business devoted to strategic acquisitions and localized programming. 


Position Overview:


The North Road Company is seeking to hire a VP of FP&A to lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning across its subsidiaries. This role will establish a standardized approach to financial reporting, ensuring visibility and consistency across the organization.


Reporting to the CFO, this Los Angeles-based role requires a minimum of four days per week in the Playa Vista office. 


Responsibilities:

  • Oversee financial planning, including annual budgets, monthly reporting, quarterly reforecasting, and long-term strategic plans.
  • Adopt and expand the structured budgeting and forecasting process across all business units.
  • Ensure forecasting aligns with financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow) to maintain accuracy.
  • Analyze budget-to-actual variances and key financial KPIs to provide actionable insights to senior leadership.
  • Support M&A activities, integrating newly acquired businesses into existing financial frameworks.
  • Provide timely and accurate financial reporting for senior leadership, lenders, and key stakeholders.
  • Drive process improvements and operational efficiencies without disrupting business unit operations.
  • Oversee final rollout of forecasting tool and ensure broad adoption across the organization.
  • Act as a strategic thought partner to the CFO and leadership team.
  • Lead financial compliance efforts, ensuring timely delivery of required documents.
  • Manage ad hoc financial projects and initiatives as needed.
  • Oversee growing FP&A function spanning other team members in the North Road FP&A function as well as subsidiary finance organizations.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Entertainment industry experience required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant finance experience, with a strong background in banking and/or FP&A.
  • Extensive knowledge of US GAAP; CPA certification is a plus but not required.
  • Proven ability to interpret and analyze complex contracts, including co-production and license agreements, overall deals, and first-look agreements.
  • Experience with financial reporting across multiple sources, including Intacct, Excel, and other financial systems.
  • Strong technical skills, with proficiency in analyzing and manipulating large datasets; familiarity with reporting tools such as Excel, Word, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Experience with M&A and post-merger integrations is highly valuable.

At North Road, we carefully consider a wide range of factors to determine a fair and equitable compensation package. Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure guidelines, the base salary for this role is between $190,000 –$240,000 per year. The final offer amount will consider a wide range of factors in making compensation decisions, including, but not limited to, a candidate’s experience relevant to the job.
