Job Summary:

About the Role & Program

The Business Development and Innovation team unlocks the future of sports and entertainment by diving into the dynamic and thrilling world of sports betting. ESPN BET is at the forefront of the rapidly evolving sports betting industry, launching in November of 2023. The Sports Betting Industry grew 53% YoY from 2022 to 2023, and ESPN BET is offering an exciting internship in an evolving space to enhance this immersive experience!

We are seeking an analytical, meticulous, and proactive intern to join our ESPN BET team. The ideal candidate will be hard-working and curious about understanding and contributing to the sports betting landscape within ESPN. This role requires a passion for sports, an understanding of the betting industry, and an eagerness to learn and support a rapidly growing sector. If selected for this role, the intern will report to a Sports Betting Analyst.

What You Will Do

  • Learn and Explore: Gain a comprehensive understanding of ESPN's role as the worldwide leader in sports. Dive into the intricacies of ESPN BET and its integration within the broader ESPN ecosystem. Remain versatile, nimble, and curious to support an evolving and dynamic sports betting space.
  • Industry Trends and Analysis: Monitor and analyze industry trends, breaking news and policy changing in the sports betting realm. Synthesize data and research into key insights for partners and executives.
  • Operational Support: Support on operational workflow of ESPN BET Analytics and ensure accuracy and timeliness. Document critical information during meetings and calls, providing comprehensive notes and action items.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Support in a liaison role for ESPN BET within various ESPN departments, including espnW, EDGE, Studios and Disney working groups. Work to ensure sports betting initiatives are integrated thoughtfully, promoting cohesive, inclusive, and responsible approach across all ESPN platforms.
  • Sportsbook Performance Tracking: Assist in the tracking and analysis of sportsbook performance metrics for ESPN BET. Contribute to scaling and refining performance tracking systems.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience with PowerPoint and Excel
  • Experience with Research and Data Analysis
  • Communication and Presentation Skills with a passion for sports and an interest in the sports betting industry
  • Thrive in a team-oriented environment and are ready to contribute versatile skills to a collective vision

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in data analysis tools and reporting software, i.e. Tableau, Looker, Snowflake
  • Ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely

Education

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months at time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship

Eligibility Requirements & Program Information

Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:

  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program.
  • Possess unrestricted work authorization

Additional Information

Program Dates: The summer season will run June 3rd through August 9th 2024. Interns will work 40 hours per week throughout the internship and must be fully available.

Work Environment: This internship is based in New York City. Interns must provide their own housing and transportation.
