9NEWS, the TEGNA owned NBC affiliate in Denver, CO, is looking to add a creative and energetic Sports MSJ and Anchor to our team. This person must have the knowledge and passion to cover all sports important in Colorado. We're seeking an independent, innovative storyteller who can go beyond play-by-play and innovate local sports for a new generation with an emphasis on character-driven sports storytelling. The ideal candidate has a commitment to being a local sports expert on all things Colorado. Binging our audience the latest on what's happening in coaching and roster changes, but the stories behind the sports in Colorado. The right person for this job goes beyond the highlights of games and builds sportscasts with moments and great storytelling.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop/enterprise, shoot, write, track and edit stories about athletes and teams.
  • Appear on camera in studio and live situations to report on games.
  • Produce, edit and anchor sports segments on our newscasts that include multiple video, graphic and live interview elements.
  • Demonstrate excellent skills in all these disciplines: Shooting video, writing, editing and on-camera presentation.
  • Use best practices to generate activity on all social and digital platforms, including submitting well written digital copy for each original television report.

Requirements:

  • A four year degree in journalism, communications or a related field preferred.
  • Three to five years of experience producing video sports content, including voice and on camera work.
  • A passion for sports and an interest in telling the stories of athletes and teams.
  • Proficiency in photography, editing and smooth on-camera work.
  • A positive and energetic personality
  • An unselfish teammate
  • Flexible work hours/including travel
