KING 5 is looking for an experienced, creative, and innovative Lifestyle Host/Reporter for Seattle's #1 locally produced talk show, New Day Northwest.

For more than a decade, New Day Northwest has connected viewers with the very best of the Pacific Northwest. As the Host, you will interview the region's most interesting people, highlight the coolest places to go, things to do, and help our audience discover products that improve their daily lives.

You'll host and produce content for all platforms and enterprise original segments from the community that bring people together.

Our ideal candidate will be a curious, community-oriented storyteller with a dynamic personality. You'll also need to be a high-energy collaborator bursting with ideas, and a talent for connecting and relating to people from all walks of life.

Responsibilities:

  • Host hourly shows from our KING 5 studios with occasional on-location duties, appear in digital and social video content and perform other on-air duties as assigned, five days a week.
  • Research topics, learn about guests, and do whatever it takes to be sharp and prepared for every interview
  • Work with our sales team and sponsors to help them achieve their goals and bring integrated sales content to life
  • Write and produce a minimum of four original stories a month, creating unique, engaging, and rich storytelling experiences to grow a loyal audience across all platforms
  • Collaborate with producers on show editorial, pitching segments, booking interviews and developing new ideas
  • Write and produce segments, teases and cold opens as required
  • Write articles for the web, post photo and video content to social media, and engage viewers in real-time
  • Attend and contribute to editorial meetings both on TEAMS and in person

Requirements:

  • A minimum of five years of experience with pre-produced content and on-air delivery, preferably in a talk show setting
  • Dynamic on-air presence, sense of humor and personality match for the active Pacific Northwest region
  • Exceptional writing proficiency for broadcast, digital and social platforms
  • Strong time management, production management and project management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain on-air chemistry with show guests, build professional relationships and interact effectively with diverse individuals
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required to actively work across departments
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of content development best practices across social media platforms and channels. Proficient in, and actively using, social media channels, e.g., Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, TikTok
  • Knowledge of ENPS, Adobe Creative Suite and remote production tools is a plus
  • Occasional night and weekend community appearances may be required.
  • This is a full-time, salaried, union represented position reporting to the Director of Local Programming.
