The Director, Video Production will be a critical leader on the American Cancer Society (ACS) Creative team, charged with the critical task of elevating our brand, mission, and authentic storytelling, with the objective of accelerate both revenue and brand growth. This role will be responsible for overseeing the concepting and production of video content for all dynamic media types, leading from concept to final delivery.

For over a century, the American Cancer Society has been dedicated to improving the lives of people with cancer and their families with the vision to end cancer as we know it, for everyone. As the Director, Video Production, you will work closely with the CMO, VP Creative, and other marketing leaders to elevate the ACS mission and make a tangible difference in the lives of people with cancer and their families. By effectively communicating the work done across the ACS pillars of advocacy, research, and patient support, this role will ensure everyone can prevent, detect, treat and survive cancer.

This visionary creative leader will help elevate the role of video and content at ACS and lead a team of video professionals, managing production schedules and ensuring the final product meets the highest quality standards and aligns with the company’s objectives and branding. This leader will expand our footprint across all video assets, including both long form, short form, and DRTV.

The Director, Video Production will work in tandem with Creative Directors and other Marketing Strategy teams to ensure all video creative deliverables are produced as concepted. This will involve both the in-house production, managing external production agencies, and incorporating User Generated Content (UGC). This role will also ensure that final deliverables meet the quality standards required for the ACS brand.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Video Strategy: Sets long term strategies to scale up in-house production capabilities, that aligns with marketing plans and priorities.

  • Results-driven Storytelling: Strong point-of-view on video, authentic storytelling, and motion graphic, with the ability to contribute to creative brainstorming and help develop creative concepts that generate results and drive action.

  • Creative Collaboration: Develops and conceptualize video production ideas in collaboration with creative directors, writers, designers and other marketing teams, to build a brand tone based on genuine stories showcasing the impact of the ACS in the lives of people with cancer and their families.

  • Team Leadership: Leads an in-house team of videographers, video editors, and producer assistants to execute assigned video production projects for internal and external audiences.

  • Video Directing: Directs video shoots, including camera work, lighting, sound, and talent direction. Including real people.

  • Video Asset Development: Manages production and distribution of multiple video formats including long form, short form, social videos, UGC and DRTV.

  • Brand guardian: Ensures that all video content adheres to the company’s brand guidelines and creative vision.

  • Mentoring: Mentors a team of video professionals to capture real stories from cancer survivors, caregivers, volunteers, scientist and leaders on the cancer space.

  • Production Management: Manages video production workload, timelines and identifies needs for external partners, production houses, photographers and videographers.

  • Creative Liaison: Builds relationships with internal leadership, and external partners.

  • DEI advocate: Helps to create and sustain a DEI environment.

  • Tech Savvy Creative: Full awareness of creative processes and techniques – including digital platforms and creative technologies.

  • Conceptual: Contributes significantly to the creative process.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

  • Minimum of 10 + years leadership experience in a similar role.

  • Demonstrated experience leading teams.

  • Strong project management, problem solving and analytical skills, combined with strong business judgment and communication skills.

  • Advertising, Media, or In-House Agency experience.

  • Demonstrated track record of leading video productions at multiple scales, from small-scale videos (like short social media clips or internal corporate videos) to large-scale productions (such as TV commercials, DRTV or major brand campaigns.

  • Knowledge on Premiere and other Adobe apps.

  • Manages Seasonal Creative Calendar.

  • Has a strong sense of urgency, ability to manage details and multiple projects while responding to changing priorities and feedback.

SPECIAL MENTAL OR PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.

  • No or very limited physical effort required. No or very limited exposure to physical risk.

The starting rate is $102,000 to $127,000 annual. The final candidate's relevant experience/skills will be considered before an offer is extended. Actual starting pay will vary based on non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.
