Job Description

The E.W. Scripps Company is seeking a Manager, Events. This individual will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing various events to promote our company and enhance our brand image. This position is located in New York City.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
  • Develop and implement event strategies and plans to achieve marketing objectives.
  • Coordinate all aspects of event planning, including venue selection, budgeting, logistics, and vendor management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution of events.
  • Oversee the design and production of event materials, such as invitations, signage, and promotional items.
  • Manage event timelines and ensure all deadlines are met.
  • Supervise a team of Marketing Coordinators, providing guidance and support in their event-related tasks.
  • Conduct post-event evaluations to measure success and identify areas for improvement.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in event management.
  • Comply with Legal and Compliance guidelines as they relate to event matters.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Generally, 5 years’ experience in corporate event marketing preferred
  • Proven experience in event planning and management
  • Experience in a media or professional services environment, or an event management company preferred
WHAT YOU’LL BRING:
  • Leadership skills to effectively supervise and motivate a team of Marketing Coordinators.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the local industry preferred
  • Ability to think strategically, execute quality output under tight deadlines
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
  • Ability/flexibility to manage confidently an event on an end-to-end basis, ranging in size from 100 to 1,000+ attendees
  • A commercial focus with proven contract negotiating and supplier management skills
  • Broad knowledge base of suppliers/venues
  • High level of creativity, ability to think "outside the box"
  • Strong Brand management focus
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to lead meetings
  • Proven contract negotiating and supplier management skills
  • Superior oral and written communication and analytical skills
  • Ability to work well independently and on a team.
  • Flexibility to work after hours at events and weekends where necessary
  • Excellent computer skills, proficient in using event management software and tools

COMPENSATION RANGE:
Annual Salary: $100,000.00 - $110,000
Pursuant to state and local salary transparency laws, the salary range posted is specific to candidates who will perform this work in New York.
