Job Description

The E.W. Scripps Company is seeking an experienced editor to join our WSFL station in Miami, FL. This individual will work on our lifestyle show, Inside South Florida, and other special projects, including packages related to Scripps Sports. As a station without traditional newscasts, we’re looking for a creative editor who can integrate visual content and audio material to craft compelling storiesand complete daily editing projects for multiple platforms, while supporting the production of WSFL’s daily Lifestyle show.
What You'll Do
  • Capture visual content and edit long-form stories and daily Lifestyle shows as needed.
  • Work with producers, hosts, multi-media journalists, photojournalists, sales team, Digital producer, and Promotions Manager to ensure a high-quality product consistent with station's brand.
  • Operate various content gathering equipment, including but not limited to video camera, video editing equipment, and control room.
  • Maintain video archive filing system.
  • Reacts effectively to last minute productions for clients and for our Lifestyle show on an immediate basis.
  • Gathers story related materials (sound and video) on a timely basis.
  • Coordinates remote and studio events, creating synergy between remote and studio productions.
  • Collaborates with all departments at WSFL, sharing of information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What You'll Need:
  • Associate's degree in related field or equivalent years experience preferred
  • Generally, 2+ years experience in related field preferred.
What You'll Bring
  • Proficiency in non-linear, editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro / Adobe After Effects)
  • Knowledge of and proficiency in posting content to the television station Web site
  • Knowledge and demonstration of creativity, editorial judgment, journalistic ethics and libel laws
