Overview/Purpose
Vanity Fair is looking for a creative and innovative media talent to join our audience development, social and analytics team. A perfect candidate will understand how to creatively develop, engage, and inform audiences across platforms, and be clued in on emerging networks and how Vanity Fair can use them effectively. The audience development manager will work closely with Vanity Fair’s Global Director of Audience Development and the wider audience development team to implement daily strategies for SEO, newsletters, and revenue growth. They will also be part of the Vanity Fair brand team.
This role is based in New York, with flexibility around remote and in-person work.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Work with editors, producers, and the audience development team to grow traffic and engagement across core VF subject areas, including Hollywood, royals, politics, scandal, media, and culture.
  • Research search trends and work with editors to improve headlines, publishing strategy, and evergreen content that will resonate with the VF audience
  • Help manage and execute curation, scheduling, and strategy for Cocktail Hour, HWD Daily, Awards Insider, the Hive newsletter, and other email products
  • Partner with analytics and audience development leads to meet Vanity Fair’s KPIs, define social and newsletter testing strategies, and conduct deep dives to identify audience growth opportunities
  • Collaborate with the edit and art departments on promoting longform features, which are core to VF’s editorial strategy across platforms
  • Identify ways to effectively promote strong subscription drivers on social platforms and newsletters
  • Assist global audience development director and analytics team with data reporting projects and identifying content trends
  • Seek out global audience growth opportunities, from partnerships to platforms, and work with the Director to implement new strategies specific to Vanity Fair
  • Assist social team in breaking news situations and weekend coverage
  • Collaborate with the editorial and social teams for coverage of live events, including the VF Oscar Party, award shows, elections, royal moments, and more.
  • Develop relationships with audience development managers across other Condé Nast brands to share strategies and best practices
  • Work with the team to support sponsorships and events
  • Additional duties as needed or requested by management.
Desired Skills and Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of experience in publishing; editorial or audience development familiarity preferred
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Professional experience creating, optimizing, and adapting content for platforms including websites, newsletters, video, and social media platforms
  • Professional experience with publishing and analytics tools, such as Dash Hudson, Listen First, Sailthru, Apple News Publisher, Parse.ly, and Google Analytics
  • A sense of humor and keenness to adapt to a changing media landscape and find audiences in new ways
  • An understanding of Vanity Fair’s voice and sensibility
This is a guild position.
The expected base salary range for this position is from $89,000-$95,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to relevant skills, training, experience, and education.
In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates may also be eligible to receive discretionary bonus compensation.
