SUMMARY

Stand Up To Cancer (“SU2C”), a California non-profit public benefit corporation that is affiliated with EIF, is seeking a Communications Assistant. The Communications Assistant provides administrative support to the SVP of Communications and plays a vital role in supporting communications efforts for Stand Up To Cancer. The candidate should have a minimum of two years’ experience in public relations or communications and possess superior organizational and communication skills, with the ability to juggle multiple assignments at the same time. This position will be based out of the Stand Up To Cancer office in Los Angeles, CA.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

SU2C reserves the right to modify the job responsibilities listed below based on its needs.

  • Administrative support for the SVP, Communications, including calendar, travel, expenses, departmental invoices etc.
  • Work with the Communications team to execute strategic campaigns that support SU2C’s mission and drive awareness and visibility for the organization.
  • Compile, edit, and distribute media coverage reports.
  • Maintain media lists and key resources, including conference, festival, and awards lists.
  • Assist with press events.
  • Prepare communications materials (media alerts/press releases/bios etc), as needed
  • Collaborate with other departments and administrative staff as needed
  • Attend departmental and other meetings as required
  • Perform all other job-related duties as assigned

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • A bachelor’s degree preferably in Communications or Journalism from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • Minimum two years of experience in public relations, corporate communications, or related field.
  • Business acumen with working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Cision and MuckRack
  • Willingness to work overtime with short notice
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Some travel required
  • Ability to sit for extended periods
  • Frequent alpha/numeric keyboarding
  • Ability to us a computer
  • Operate standard office equipment
  • Lift and carry boxes up to ten pounds
  • File and retrieve documents

SALARY RANGE: $23.00 - $25.00/hr.
