The Media Asset Manager is responsible for day-to-day media workflow operations including ingest, logging, archive and retrieval, transcoding, QC, and delivery operations for all video, audio, and project-related assets.

This individual must have a thorough understanding of file-based video and audio production workflows and will collaborate with Producers, Videographers, and Editors to efficiently handle content throughout the production pipeline, meet tight deadlines, and ensure standards of quality are met.

This position requires a highly-organized and detail-oriented individual – this individual will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the Raiders’ media asset library and ensuring that all asset metadata is consistent, accurate, and readily searchable. The Media Asset Manager is also responsible for the ongoing migration and remediation of metadata from legacy systems, unifying assets under a single data model.

This individual also will be responsible for developing and implementing operational best practices, optimizing workflows, and representing other users’ feedback on processes to the Broadcast Engineer for continuous improvement.

The Media Asset Manager may often work under general supervision. Work will be reviewed for soundness of judgement and overall adequacy and accuracy.


Essential Job Functions

  • Monitor production schedules to plan for ingest and delivery needs
  • Provide project organization guidance to Producers and Editors
  • Ingest:
    • Handle recording media from broadcast and cinema-style cameras, field audio recorders, and studio control room recording devices
    • Ingest content of varying types from a wide variety of sources, including:
      • Stadium control room EVS and gameday footage
      • Studio productions, including television programs and podcasts
      • Outside sources including NFL Films and radio and television broadcast networks
      • Press conferences
      • ENG and EFP coverage of events, including interviews and b-roll
      • Feature and documentary/long-form content
      • Production and project documents
      • Archival content
  • Logging:
    • Consistently organize and accurately tag all assets, including project files, to support future search needs and ensure maximum value can be extracted from content
  • Metadata Development:
    • Maintain and expand metadata taxonomies as required to accommodate new content and project types
    • Update metadata picklists, including rosters, on an ongoing basis
  • Housekeeping:
    • Fulfill asset search requests from Producers and Editors
    • Manage file and project transfer to and from freelance editors
    • Archive completed projects
    • Retrieve archived assets as needed
  • Quality Control:
    • QC incoming and outgoing content to evaluate video and audio levels, color space, resolution, frame rate, timecode, closed captioning, codec, bitrate, and other technical parameters
    • Identify technical issues and work with content creators to resolve
  • Delivery & Distribution:
    • Export and encode content for delivery to multiple platforms (stadium, studio, broadcast affiliates, web, social platforms)
    • Facilitate internal (interdepartmental) and external (broadcast affiliate, agency) transfer and delivery of assets
  • Proactively monitor MAM, PAM, and storage system operational status; bring issues to Broadcast Engineer’s attention for resolution
  • Collaborate with the Broadcast Engineer in finding opportunities to use new technologies and techniques to optimize workflows and eliminate waste; work with the Broadcast Engineer to implement changes
  • Produce and maintain system and process documentation
  • All other duties as assigned


Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience working with Digital / Media Asset Management Systems required
  • In-depth knowledge of MAM system operations and best practices required
  • Experience developing metadata taxonomies required
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud applications, including Premiere Pro and Media Encoder along with Audition required
  • Working knowledge of video and audio editing systems and transcoding systems; experience configuring automated workflows required
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Current knowledge of video and audio post-production workflow best practices
  • Experience working in a fast-paced collaborative production environment under tight deadlines
  • Knowledge of football terminology preferred
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficient in digital video & audio encoding and broadcast technical standards
  • Familiarity with structured data formats such as XML and JSON
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-starter; able to effectively work independently without direct supervision
  • Flexible and able to reprioritize tasks on the fly
  • Ability to work extended hours and flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed

  • Sitting for long periods throughout the shift
  • Occasional lifting and carrying up to 25lbs
  • Occasional walking, standing, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling
