Job Description:

Blizzard Entertainment is looking for an experienced game designer to lead the content design on Diablo Immortal. You will champion the Diablo brand by overseeing new content and story development as well as working with other leads to uphold Diablo Immortal’s holistic vision. The ideal candidate has experience with leadership, content design, story development, documentation, peer review, and feature pitching.


Responsibilities

  • Provide creative oversight and feedback to all content and story related designs
  • Act as design lead on zones, dungeons, quests, and monster families, and theming of game systems.
  • Coordinate with the greater Diablo story team to ensure a cohesive product.
  • Coach and manage a mixed team of designers and writers.
  • Act as the axis point in building consensus and unified vision between the narrative, design, and art teams
  • Plan out content roadmaps along with other system features and events into a cohesive product
  • Closely collaborate and negotiate with overseas partner in the development of the game, providing guidance and creative vision to empower our partner. Find balance between western and eastern game design principles to create a game successful in both markets
  • Be a tenacious advocate for quality and the Diablo brand
  • Build lock-step relationships with designers, writers, and partners


Requirements

  • 6+ years of game design leadership experience and proven record of accomplishment in both AAA and mobile gaming
  • Experience successfully pitching and presenting game design features
  • Firm grasp of mobile and PC gaming trends across international regions
  • Extensive knowledge of how to build long-term content in Free-2-play MMOs
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with internal team and external partners
  • Ability to creatively meet deadlines while balancing quality and speed.
  • A keen eye for spotting issues in paper designs that may negatively affect the greater product.
  • Must have a positive attitude and be a team player
  • Willingness and ability to travel
  • Intuitive ability to prioritize the essential elements of a quality game

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $97,200.00 - $179,900.00 Annual. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. Your Talent Professional can share this role’s range details for your local geography during the hiring process. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed. While we strive to provide competitive offers to successful candidates, new hire compensation is negotiable.
