We’re looking for an overnight Desk Producer, Video (Level 1 Journalist – Temp) to join our Reuters Editorial team where we are expanding our coverage.

About the Role

As our Desk Producer, Video(Level 1 Journalist – Temp), you will:

  • Oversee overnight newsgathering and production in North America
  • Produce, edit, write and deliver agency video stories from both office and field
  • Respond quickly to major breaking news events, in a responsible manner
  • Have a sharp eye for visual news elements and video storytelling
  • Be able to work long hours, some weekend shifts, often under extreme pressure
  • Have thorough understanding of television editorial technology and social media
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Shift work required- The role will cover overnight shifts and weekend work

About You

You're a fit for the Desk Producer, Video (Level 1 Journalist – Temp), if you likely have:

  • The ability to work overnight hours and make decisions in an unsupervised environment
  • Significant experience as a professional Video producer
  • A track record of working with multimedia and video packaging tea
  • Experience in broadcast or agency television newsgathering and production
  • Strong skills in driving accuracy and speed while upholding Thomson Reuters editorial principles and policies
  • Understanding needs of broadcast and digital clients, regionally and internationally
  • Willingness to travel to breaking news stories, often at short notice
  • Excellent English writing skills
