What You Will Do

Are you ready to join Walt Disney Imagineering, making an impact by being a valued member of the team? We lead project teams’ design developments by recommending material, assembly, and system solutions, developing and maintaining the Disney Master Guide Specifications and Disney Standards, and monitoring performance against project design schedule, budget, and value. As an intern on the team, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Assist with the preparation of project manuals for facilities and building specialties based on Disney Master Guide Specifications, Disney Standards, and local building codes
  • Draft new specification sections on an as-needed basis
  • Support the coordination of specifications by external partners and in-house teams
  • Actively participate in project design review meetings
  • Collaborate with various Disney groups during project and master specification development
  • Work with Disney Environmental team to research and develop sustainable design solutions
  • Carry out plans and initiatives of Principal Specifier

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Familiarity with design and construction
  • Capable of independently researching, preparing, and communicating material and system recommendations to project teams
  • Interest and passion for the advancement of sustainable design
  • Able to assist project teams in the review and actioning of construction submittals
  • Able to read and understand architectural and engineering drawings
  • Able to distill sophisticated thoughts and ideas into clear written language
  • Outstanding attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

  • Practical experience working in a professional environment in highly integrated teams
  • Working knowledge of Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) Master Format and principles of specifying
  • Working knowledge of SpecLink Cloud (or other database specifying software), or willingness to learn
  • Experience making field observations of construction and/or reviewing construction submittals

Education

Currently enrolled as a Junior or higher, or graduated within the past 6 months, from a NAAB accredited program in Architecture.

Eligibility Requirements & Program Information

Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:

  • Be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months at time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program.
  • Possess unrestricted work authorization
  • Provide own housing for the duration internship program in the Glendale, CA area
  • Have reliable transportation to/from work

The pay rate for this role in California is $26.50 per hour for undergraduate students and $27.50 per hour for graduate level students.
