Job Summary:

About the Role & Team

The Senior Manager, Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) is responsible for contributing to and leading HR strategies and tactics in a highly creative and collaborative environment. This individual will lead and facilitate all HR programs and strategies in support of their client group through collaboration with the business leaders, HR specialty groups and other HR business partners. They will serve as an expert consultant to their clients on all talent matters, including organizational effectiveness, leader effectiveness, change management, organizational design, DEI, and learning opportunities. The ideal candidate will have a combination of strong business insight, Human Resources (HR), Organization Development (OD), and Learning & Development expertise, and advising skills, as well as, the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, creative and fluid environment.

What You Will Do

  • Establish and maintain an intimate understanding of the studio, in the interest of building effective working relationships with stakeholders and clients, at all levels of the organization, specifically for our technology and overhead groups in Burbank.

  • Proactively assess business and organizational performance to recommend and drive action through a consultative, “influence without authority” approach.

  • In partnership with the Disney Animation HR leadership team, develop and drive the implementation of HR strategies and initiatives that align with the business priorities.

  • Drive people engagement strategies that foster an environment where all employees are respected and valued

  • Assess organizational performance, identify talent gaps, and propose HR solutions that support the business

  • Partner closely with the Director Training and Development, Studios L&D and HR leaders to co-create and facilitate meaningful leadership development programs for WDAS leaders

  • Translate HR initiatives and serve as a strategic advisor to business leaders regarding HR policies and processes (e.g., merit and promotion planning, performance management and talent planning) in order to optimize employee engagement and productivity.

  • Build compelling presentations using people analytics and insights to focus leaders on relevant business issues and assessing potential solutions

  • Partner with the Director, Inclusion Strategies to integrate diversity and inclusion strategies into business plans to ensure an inclusive approach to the workplace

  • Be available to all employees as a coach, counselor, and mentor; be effective at rallying everyone toward the common goals of the Studio and be an effective bridge builder across all functions and levels within the organization.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • 7+ years’ experience in human resources, organization development, training or related talent planning field

  • Experience working within a creative/production and unionized environment

  • Demonstrated ability to work in and manage ambiguity – dealing with issues that do not always have a process or a system in place.

  • Ability to position self as credible (garners respect, acts with integrity, keeps commitments); proactive (has a point of view, challenges assumptions, takes initiative); and a trusted thought partner (builds relationships, delivers results).

  • Independent work style, balancing the need for collaboration with minimal supervision.

  • Equally adept at advising, thinking strategically and execution. Exhibits a roll-up your sleeves attitude

  • Demonstrated experience and ability to balance business partnering skills with employee advocacy.

  • Ability to work in fast-paced and highly collaborative environment

  • Strong facilitation skills applicable across formal and informal (eg, coaching, mentoring) approaches

  • Strong diagnostic, problem solving, and analytical skills

  • Strong interpersonal and developed presentation skills with a proven ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organization

  • Ability to manage and thrive within ambiguity

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Human Resources Management


The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $163,200 to $199,400 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
