Smith Entertainment Group is looking to hire an experienced Graphics Operator for the Utah Hockey Club. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of experience as Viz-RT Operator for live sports broadcasts and expert-level NHL knowledge. We’re looking for a team player, someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and has strong communication skills. SEG Media has built one of the most innovative, forward-thinking broadcast content and distribution strategies in the sports industry that includes linear TV, streaming, and outer market efforts. The candidate will be responsible for helping the team stay ahead of overall trends for both traditional broadcast and streaming efforts. This position is seasonal and based in Salt Lake City, Utah.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as Graphics Coordinator and Operator for the Utah NHL team for home and away broadcasts (80+ games annually plus first round of playoffs)
  • Work with Utah NHL Producer to set the tone for hockey broadcasts. Will be important to educate and in some cases introduce the Utah market to professional hockey
  • Research & Build all in-game sponsor graphics and keep track of execution time for reference.
  • Research & build graphics on current statistical trends both within the Utah Hockey Club roster and across the NHL.
  • Assist producer and pre-game producer with execution of graphics for game open and pregame/intermission/postgame segments
  • Manage operation of the score bug, including the updating of logos, game flows and other elements. Working with bug operator to coordinate smooth operation
  • Exemplify the Utah Jazz mission and values: transparency, all in, community obsessed, one team, and scrappy
  • Accept other duties related to Smith Entertainment Group, as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2+ years as graphics operator in live sports television - NHL experience preferred
  • Ability to run a Viz-RT graphics system is highly recommended
  • Used to working with and dealing with the pressure of live TV broadcasts
  • Experience using searchable sports databases is a plus
  • Photoshop skills a plus
  • Excellent communication, prioritization, and time management skills
  • Position will be based in Salt Lake City. Will require some travel on select road trips where conflicts arise with Jazz & studio access. For the majority of the road games – graphics producer will work out of studio at Delta Center
  • Must be knowledgeable and passionate about the NHL.
  • Ability to work a flexible, event-based schedule that will include nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • This person must be able to observe, inspect, estimate and assess.
  • This person must be able to sit, stand, bend, walk, and climb stairs for long periods of time.
  • This person must be able to lift 20 lbs.
