Position Description
The School of Theatre, Dance, and Film at Texas State University seeks an Assistant Professor of Film Production (Tenure Track), starting fall 2025. The new hire will join a nationally recognized department with a dynamic faculty dedicated to a collaborative and innovative approach to teaching undergraduate and graduate students. The Film Production Concentration within the vibrant BFA program focuses on narrative fictional filmmaking and has a rapidly growing diverse student body and a new dedicated building for film, television and audio production.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Teaching undergraduate courses in film
  • Advising Film Production students
  • Supervising co-curricular student projects
  • Collaborating with the Film Production Area in support of current initiatives and new developments
  • Serving the Film Program through administrative contributions and/or leadership positions

Required Qualifications
  • Terminal degree in Film or closely related discipline
  • Professional experience in film, episodic or other visual storytelling
  • Teaching experience at the college level
  • Commitment to an ongoing professional career

Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated professional experience in at least one of these focus areas: film producing, cinematography, editing or sound
  • Experience teaching undergraduate film courses on film producing, cinematography, editing or sound
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills
  • Demonstrated record of strong collaborative abilities
