Job Summary:

About the Role & Team
Disney Television Animation is looking for a Prop Designer to join our Multiplatform team! This artist will be responsible for creating and designing all assets that are not considered Characters or Background elements.

What You Will Do

  • Design props based on story elements and script descriptions that are consistent with the look and style of the series. May also be responsible for designing effects, as needed.
  • Design multiple concept pieces for each prop, trying out different versions of the same asset
  • Create turnarounds and provide a clean pass of the final approved design
  • Work closely with production and the Color Stylist to get clean designs to them in a timely manner for shipping
  • Prepare all prop designs for shipment to oversees vendor animation studios
  • Work closely with Art Director to resolve design issues and deadlines
  • Adhere to the production schedule provided by Line Producer to ensure cost effective, timely production
  • Additional duties as necessary, or as defined by individual contracts

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • A portfolio that demonstrates ability to design and create a variety of props and styles
  • Ability to align with style and sensibility of show
  • Knowledge of drawing software that includes Photoshop, Illustrator, and 3D technology, where applicable
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Positive and flexible attitude
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills

Education
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent combination of experience and/or training.


The pay rate for this role in California is $53.16 to $56.94 per hour, which follows the pay scale agreed upon in the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The base pay actually offered may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors.
