YouTube Channel - Jack Gordon (680K) Jack Gordon’s channel focuses on three pillars: Science, Technology, and Emotion. We aim to entertain and inspire a young, curious audience (primarily 15–35 years old) with engaging, fast-paced content. With videos reaching millions of views, we’re committed to raising the bar on creativity and quality.

We’re seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Video Editor to join our small, dynamic team and lead the post-production process. This is a key position in ensuring our channel’s continued success and growth.

Job Description:

As a Senior Video Editor, you will play a critical role in crafting high-quality, engaging video content that resonates with our audience. You’ll work closely with the channel creator and production team, managing all aspects of post-production including an assistant editor who will work under your direct supervision.

Responsibilities:

• Video Editing: Edit every 8-25 minute youtube video within our 3 week turn around schedule, after receiving a rough cut from an Assistant Editor
• Creative Collaboration: Shape the visual style, pacing, and narrative flow of each video to align with the channel's voice and audience expectations, under the supervision of the channel director.
• Team Leadership: Provide guidance and oversight to Assistant Editors, ensuring deadlines are met and quality standards are upheld.
• Motion Graphics & VFX: Incorporate high-level motion graphics, text overlays, and visual effects to enhance video content.
• Content Review: Actively participate in brainstorming and reviewing footage to select the most compelling takes and shots.
• Optimization: Stay on top of YouTube trends, algorithms, and audience preferences, adapting editing styles and techniques to maintain relevance and maximize viewership.

Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum 2-5 years of video editing experience, preferably for YouTube or similar platforms or for TV or streaming platforms. Proven ability to produce high-quality content at scale.
• Technical Skills: Mastery of industry-standard software. Must be excellent in Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects. Experience with color grading and sound design is also required.
• Creative Vision: A sharp sense of storytelling, pacing, and design that resonates with younger audiences.
• Portfolio: A robust portfolio showcasing your video editing skills, creativity, and understanding of YouTube’s unique content style or showcasing your work on a fast-paced television series.
• Communication: Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to take and provide constructive feedback effectively.
• Location: Based in Los Angeles, with the ability to work both remotely and in-person as needed.
