About the Project:We are working on a documentary about a female artist who lived and worked in SoHo, NY and died leaving behind dearly thousand paintings.
We are seeking a detail-oriented Archival Assistant to help organize, manage, and investigate/clear rights for archival footage and images. This role is crucial in ensuring our historical materials are properly sourced, documented, and cleared for use.
Responsibilities:
- Organize and catalog archival footage, ensuring proper naming conventions and metadata entry.
- Research and clear copyright permissions, negotiate licensing fees, and maintain legal documentation.
- Digitize and scan images from family albums and other historical sources.
- Work closely with the production team to source additional archival materials if needed.
- Maintain a structured archive for easy accessibility throughout the production process.
- Assist in any other archival or research-related tasks as required.
Requirements:
- Experience working with archival materials, footage organization, or a related field.
- Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
- Knowledge of licensing procedures for film and media.
- Willingness to liaise and negotiate usage with rights holders.
- Familiarity with archival databases and digital asset management is a plus.
- Passion for storytelling, history, and documentary filmmaking.
