Senior Manager, Ad Technology, Digital & Streaming Media

Overview

Estrella MediaCo is looking for a problem solver in ad technology with proven experience in implementing, managing and delivering ad software, services and platform solutions efficiently and effectively. The Senior Manager, Ad Technology will perform ad tech set-up, integration and delivery requirements and troubleshooting for Estrella MediaCo’s digital ad tech stack across livestreams, free ad supported television (FAST), and on demand video and audio streaming across our owned and operated apps and partner platforms. A large aspect of this role will be working with third party software and platform vendors providing services such as ad server, programmatic, video player, streaming video and audio, identity management, reporting, ad related SDK integrations and more. This is a unique opportunity to influence and shape the future digital ad tech stack of a leading media and entertainment company.

Reporting into the VP, Business Operations, the Senior Manager, Ad Technology will support business priorities through knowledge and expertise in connecting the supply side with the demand side, effective communications and processes with 3rd party vendors to meet deliverables, timelines, and identifying potential issues and troubleshooting problems that arise. A successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to be a self-starter, learn new areas, and support recommendations on what software and platforms to utilize while considering budgets and business priorities. Additionally, the senior manager, will make a concerted effort to clearly summarize and articulate simple solutions to complex problems and create extensive documentation on ad guidelines/specifications and educate operational, product, and sales stakeholders as required. This role will also work closely with multiple internal and external teams including broadcast, radio and digital technology, product and content operations. Additionally, the candidate will become a subject matter expert in all ad tech matters related to Estrella MediaCo from an integration and implementation standpoint, particularly for ad server configurations and audience extensions.

Specific Responsibilities:

· Manage and optimize all ad serving capabilities via technologies, demand partners, and vendor integrations and implementations

· Troubleshoot and debug VAST tag issues, fill rates, render rates, timeout rates and other Direct and Programmatic-specific advertising issues

· Operationalize new and existing integrations for ad delivery on all MediaCo distribution endpoints and platforms across FAST channels, video on demand, audio streams, and display

· Work in tandem with Ad Operations to deliver campaigns and pursue ad technology-related changes to optimize campaign delivery

· Contribute to the evolution of testing strategies and test case coverage across Estrella’s advertising stack

· Tackle set up and implementation of latest advertising capabilities from addressable targeting to measurement and viewability

· Identify, evaluate, and provide thought-leadership on IAB standards, existing and emerging technologies

· Develop capability of utilizing 1st and 3rd party data anonymously, safely and securely for advertising purposes

Qualifications

· BA/BS required; Masters preferred

· 3-5+ years of successful ad technology experience; must be versed in ad servers and troubleshooting both direct sold and programmatic pipes

· 2+ years of experience in media & entertainment industry, with focus in digital streaming and on demand content for supply side inventory

· 5-7+ years of combined working experience

· Excellent communication skills, ability to work effectively in a distributed team environment, and ability to translate highly technical concepts into basic requirements and concepts

· Comfortable working in a fast paced and agile environment and able to navigate cross-departmental communications

· Experience managing a team or working across multiple teams and functions within organization and defining processes to improve output

· Experience running point on major integrations or implementations with 3rd party vendors or proprietary platforms

· Knowledge of industry monetization and competitive trends in video and digital sales industries

· Proactive problem solver with the ability to prioritize and concurrently balance multiple, time sensitive requests within a high-pressure environment

· Thorough understanding of modern web architecture, web code, troubleshooting and debugging approaches and techniques

· Experience building and using both out of the box and sophisticated data, analytic and reporting toolsets, as proactive and reactive solutions to business problems

· In depth technical experience with content metadata management and API data delivery specifications & workflows

· Working knowledge of metadata related programming/markup languages and tool sets including, but not limited to: VAST, OpenRTB, PMPs, XML, JSON, HTML

· Experience with FreeWheel, GAM, Publica, Springserve, Video Asset Management platforms, identity management vendors and data management platforms

· Must be willing to work overtime, holiday or weekends on short notice
