Job Summary:
The Broadcast Seasonal Assistant is responsible for assisting the Broadcast department in executing broadcast needs.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate closely with the Manager, Broadcasting to build and maintain strong relationships with Detroit Tigers partners (radio and television) at the local and national level, driving significant business impact from their broadcasts.
  • Work alongside Manager, Broadcasting to collaborate with Detroit Tigers business operations, identifying key business initiatives and ensuring that they are showcased on broadcasts in high-impact ways.
  • Build and maintain deep relationships with production staff from Bally Sports Detroit and Audacy, facilitating a constant dialogue for how the club can best support and drive their broadcasts that showcase our product to millions of fans across the globe.
  • Coordinate game-day interviews and in-game promo reads for Detroit Tigers radio broadcasts. Have a presence in the home radio booth during games at Comerica Park, ensuring broadcasters have the promotional and baseball information they need.
  • Respond to and fulfill broadcast media requests as needed throughout the season.
  • Play a role in planning and executing the affiliate engagement strategy, which touches the 50-plus radio affiliates across the broadcast area of the Detroit Tigers to ensure partners are supporting the organization’s larger business initiatives outside of airing games.
  • Attend a significant portion of Detroit Tigers home games, having an in-person presence and relationship with broadcasters and members of the media.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Highly motivated with excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience in broadcasting and a deep knowledge of baseball are preferred.
  • The ideal candidate must be at least a college senior or recent graduate (within two years), and be available full-time (at least 40 hours per week) beginning in March, 2023.
  • Elite ability to collaborate, building relationships with colleagues across the organization and employees of our broadcast partners.
  • High levels of the following skill sets: communication (verbal and written), organizational, and people/culture.
Working Conditions:
  • Attend many home games that the team plays in a season.
  • Largely an in-office/venue environment, while also attending content shoots/activations with players in the community as needed.
