KUSA-TV 9NEWS, the TEGNA-owned NBC affiliate in Denver, CO, is looking for an expert to cover the most interesting weather in the world on our weekend evening newscasts. Colorado is a year-round weather state with frequent winter storms, severe weather in the spring and summer, and fires and floods that can happen any time. This is a key on-air position to present weather on our television and social and digital platforms.
Responsibilities:
- The key responsibility is predicting the future, in terms of what's going to happen with weather today, tonight, tomorrow, and next week. 9NEWS Weather Impact Team Meteorologists prepare and present multiple weather reports in a day, using all the resources available. This includes graphics, video, and live cameras as well as user-generated content. Meteorologists also interact with other members of the on-air staff to produce a superior viewing experience.
- Presenting weather on multiple platforms including 9NEWS +, 9NEWS.com, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
- This position is a weekend evening weather anchor.
- The other three days this Meteorologist can fill in on the noon broadcast, handle live 9+ forecast updates, and create weather content, either climate pkgs or weather explainers to air in afternoon shows.
- During weather events, this position will require weather reporting in the elements in various areas around our state.
Requirements:
- Degree in Meteorology as well as a certification from the National Weather Service or the American Meteorological Society is preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience as an On-Air Broadcast Meteorologist is required.
- The ability to produce and deliver smooth on-air weather reports several times each day is required.
