Job Description

The Staff Accountant assists with a variety of projects to support management initiatives in a centralized accounting environment providing MHK accounting and operational support. This position is located at the MHK corporate office in Tampa, Florida.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research, code, and coordinate Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable invoices and billing
  • Collect and submit new supplier paperwork 
  • Investigate invoice or general ledger discrepancies and propose solutions
  • Maintain proper controls to ensure completeness & accuracy of incoming and outgoing payments
  • Prepare and post monthly journal entries, adjusting and recurring as needed
  • Research and prepare monthly account reconciliations and analysis
  • Prepare financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing financial transactions
  • Generate and distribute key reporting and other analyses to key stakeholders
  • Communicate with key personnel on status of open projects and other requests
  • Create and maintain documentation of department processes and procedures
  • Assist with internal and external audits
  • Prepare ad hoc reports and perform other related duties as assigned or requested

Skill Requirements: 

  • 1-2 years of professional Accounting/Finance experience 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel skills
  • Experience with Oracle ERP preferred
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to work efficiently with large volumes of transactions
  • Ability to recognize problems and develop or suggest solutions
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Highly motivated, quick learner and a self-starter
  • Ability to work with accuracy and meet deadlines
  • Strong time management skills, ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to operate with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish directives
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of peers, management and external parties

Education/Certification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance 

Additional Requirements:

  • A candidate local to Tampa is required for onsite collaboration at least three days per week.
  • All prospective candidates must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
