Automation and Energy Management Specialist

Overview: Join the Reedy Creek Energy Services (RCES) team, where we are dedicated to designing, operating, and maintaining utility systems for the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District (CFTOD). As a SCADA Specialist, you will be a key player in managing our Energy Management System (EMS) and related applications. This salaried position offers a chance to work in a dynamic and diverse team, reporting to the Network Services Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • System Management: Lead the design, programming, configuration, and near-continuous upgrades of SCADA hardware and software systems.
  • Data Accessibility: Develop and maintain solutions for near-real-time and historical data access for end-users.
  • Security Management: Implement and oversee security measures for the ICS system, utilizing OpenVPN, VLAN, and CA certificate security models.
  • Web and Virtual Services: Develop and maintain web services and virtual services within the environment.
  • Operational Support: Collaborate closely with Operations and Maintenance teams, providing prompt responses to urgent needs.
  • Documentation: Maintain thorough documentation for change management and develop standard operating procedures.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in SCADA or related fields.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on customer care.
  • Technical Skills: Basic scripting, database management, and server administration skills.
  • Networking Knowledge: Understanding of TCP/IP networks with experience in configuring network equipment, including switches, routers, and firewalls.
  • Energy Systems Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of energy systems, including chilled water, hot water, compressed air, HVAC, and lighting system controls.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work outside normal hours as needed to address job demands, equipment availability, and emergencies.
  • Field Work: Comfort working in various locations, including field environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Building Automation Systems: Experience with Carrier i-Vu Building Automation systems.
  • Programming and GUI: Skills in programming for Building Automation Systems and creating graphical user interfaces (GUIs).
  • Open Systems Protocols: Demonstrated experience with open systems protocols such as BACnet and Modbus.
  • Utility SCADA Systems: Experience with utility SCADA systems, PLCs, and Ladder Logic.
  • Plant-Wide Control Systems: Familiarity with utility Plant-Wide Control Systems.

Education:

  • Degree: Associate’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent practical experience.
