WCNC-TV, the TEGNA-owned NBC affiliate in Charlotte, North Carolina is looking for an engaging Traffic Anchor/Multi-Skilled Journalist to join our morning team. This innovative self-starter will deliver urgent traffic content and TV and digital platforms and help people plan their morning commutes across the busy Phoenix metro area. The ideal candidate will thrive in a live breaking news environment, have the ability to create informative graphics, and demonstrate a strong knowledge and understanding of local roadways. This person will also cover traffic and transportation related stories.

Responsibilities:

  • Produce and anchor traffic reports for broadcast; gather and present information regarding traffic news on air and online
  • Shoot, write, and edit daily stories related (but not limited) to construction, traffic, growth, infrastructure, etc.
  • Perform live reports and interviews on transportation, news, and community stories
  • Collaborate with producers, assignment and digital editors, and co-anchors
  • Communicate with the traffic information providers and emergency personnel
  • Develop contacts and turn stories for newscasts and online platforms
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in communications or related field
  • Minimum of three - five years of on-air experience as a traffic or news reporter
  • Demonstrated ability to post graphics and content to various digital media platforms.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and deadline driven environment.
  • Current valid driver's license and excellent driving history
