Job Summary: The News Topical Producer is responsible for creating compelling, attention-grabbing promotional content for upcoming news segments and special projects. This role focuses on producing daily topical promos that highlight key news stories and special reports, driving audience engagement and viewership. The ideal candidate will have a creative eye, strong writing skills, and the ability to work under tight deadlines to produce content that resonates with the audience.
Job Responsibilities:
- Shoot and produce daily topical promos for news segments, special reports, and other programming, ensuring they align with the stations branding and editorial standards.
- Collaborate closely with news producers, reporters, and management to identify and promote top stories.
- Shoot, write, edit, and oversee the production of promos, including video, audio, and graphic elements.
- Ensure all promos are delivered on time and meet quality standards for broadcast and digital platforms.
- Stay informed about current events and trends to create timely and relevant promotional content.
- Coordinate with the marketing and digital teams to promote news content across social media and other digital platforms.
- Demonstrate awareness of and act in accordance with audience sensitivities.
- Demonstrate good aesthetic judgment in use of best video shots or sound bites, compelling writing, and content selection. Clearly identify and articulate selling points.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Job Schedule: This is a full-time position primarily working 40 hours per week. You may also be called upon at times to fill in other hours and days of the week to help cover vacations, illnesses, breaking news, severe weather, or special projects/events. This position is not eligible to work remotely.

Skills and Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Marketing, Broadcast, Communications, Journalism, or related field. Related experience will be evaluated and may be substituted as years of education.
- 2-3 years of pervious experience in News, Marketing, or Television Promotion preferred.
- Proficiency in video non-linear editing software (ex. Avid, Adobe Premiere, etc.) and ability to learn new systems.
- Strong writing, editing, and creative production skills and knowledge of journalistic standards.
- Must be organized with an exceptional attention to detail.
- Must have effective oral and written communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of the Oklahoma media landscape and audience preferences.
- Link of work sample required.
- Ability to perform other job-related duties as assigned.
