Position Summary
We are looking for a phenomenal teammate to join our Digital Model Shop (DMS) team. The Texture Supervisor provides supervision and direction for a team of artists who create the desired textures, ensuring that they are created and rendered according to the designs and visual style of the project. This position serves as a role model and mentor for the texturing team, with the objective of encouraging a collaborative team environment, and producing high-quality imagery.

What You’ll Do

  • Working in collaboration and under the direction of the VFX Supervisor, the Texture Supervisor is responsible for the supervision, quality control, and delivery of textures for CG assets, ensuring that they will satisfy the style and quality of the production
  • Consult with the VFX Supervisor, CG Supervisor, Model Supervisor, Look Development Supervisor, and Lighting Supervisor to assess the technical feasibility of elements in the designs and implement production friendly workflows that will maintain the vision of the film
  • Responsible for bidding work and driving the overall texturing schedule, and balancing artistic and productivity requirements in tandem with production management and other department Supervisors
  • Attend all relevant show production and team meetings to promote effective communication throughout the show production team
  • Work directly with Texture Leads and CG Supervisors to manage troubleshooting and technical efforts in pipeline workflow development
  • In collaboration with Production, assign work to texture artists based on their individual skills and strengths, as needed
  • Review the work of each texture artist on a regular basis
  • Responsible for guiding artists’ overall professional development, providing performance feedback, facilitating overall team building efforts, and maintaining positive morale among the crew
  • Participate in the recruiting and staffing of the texturing team by assessing the work of prospective candidates throughout the hiring process. Collaborate with Recruiting and Talent Management on hiring decisions, as needed

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven leadership experience in VFX and/or Feature Animation on multiple projects. 8+ years of industry experience in Texture and/or Surfacing in VFX and/or Feature Animation
  • Expert knowledge and experience in Mari
  • Proficiency in the application and use of textures in one or more 3D applications (Maya strongly preferred)
  • Proficiency in Katana, Substance, Adobe Photoshop. Zbrush/Mudbox and procedural texture writing experience is preferred
  • Proficiency with LINUX/UNIX is required
  • Must have an extremely creative and critical eye for guiding the quality of the asset
  • Must be a skilled decision maker, problem solver, and an exceptional communicator
  • Proven leadership abilities and ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse skill sets
  • Bidding and scheduling experience is required
  • Technical expertise is a plus

   


The hiring range for this position in Vancouver is C$140,000 to C$179,200 per year based on a 40-hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A full range of medical, financial, and/or other variable pay or benefits, may be offered dependent on the level and position offered.
