Job Description

The Sr. Director of Unscripted Development is responsible for driving the creative vision and execution of unscripted content under the direct supervision of the VP, Production & Development. This role will lead a team in identifying, developing, and producing innovative and engaging unscripted programming in US and LATAM. Success in this position will be measured by the quality of content developed, successful project launches, and the overall impact on audience engagement.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the strategic vision for unscripted content, aligning with the overall objectives of Telemundo Streaming Studios
  • Identify and prioritize content genres and formats that resonate with target audiences
  • Lead the identification and evaluation of potential unscripted projects, including original concepts, formats, and adaptations
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure a diverse and compelling content pipeline
  • Manage and mentor a team of development professionals, fostering a creative and collaborative work environment
  • Provide guidance on project development, ensuring alignment with brand objectives and audience preferences
  • Work closely with producers, directors, and other creative talents to shape and enhance project concepts
  • Utilize market insights to inform content development strategies
  • Oversee the creation of compelling pitch materials for unscripted projects, ensuring they align with brand standards
  • Collaborate with the finance department to manage budgets for unscripted projects, ensuring cost-effective and efficient production
  • Collaborate with other departments, including marketing, legal, and production, to ensure seamless execution of unscripted projects
  • Ensures that all work is done under the technical guidelines and operations procedures of Telemundo Studios’ infrastructure and adheres to EHS/OSHA regulations and procedures
  • Follows policies, applicable laws, and regulations to protect his/her own health and safety as well as that of other workers, the public, and the environment
  • Raises concerns about possible violations of EHS policies to your manager, business and EHS Leader
  • Works under the direct supervision of the VP Production & Development and is responsible for completing any other tasks as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in long form Spanish language scripted development and/or TV/film production
  • Exhibits extensive knowledge of TV production, tastes and demographics of the US Hispanic population
  • Bachelor’s Degree in either Arts, Communication, Journalism, TV Production or other related fields
  • Must have extensive creative and managerial experience in developing scripted programming for novella/soap opera genre
  • Must possess the ability to manage and bond with high powered talent
  • Must possess the ability to manage administrative duties, departmental budgets and maintain corporate obligations
  • Must be fully fluent in English and Spanish
  • Must be able to perform job at locations in and outside work environment with varying weather conditions

Additional Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel with short notice and on weekends
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including late and/or last-minute scheduling changes in a 24/7 production work environment
  • Must be willing to work in the greater Miami, Florida area
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
  • Must be covered by Solutions, NBCU’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Program
