XBOX is looking for a Creative Strategist to direct creative vision for game IP in the XBOX portfolio. In partnership with key stakeholders and leaders, you will drive the narrative, design, and artistic direction to create a cohesive, innovative, and unforgettable experience. You will define and champion identity, shape world and narrative, and work across teams to ensure quality and consistency for current and future projects.

Additionally, as a Creative Strategist you will also play a key role in in creating a positive environment where all team members can do their best work.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Creative Vision: Develop and communicate the creative vision for the game, ensuring alignment across design, art, and narrative teams to create an immersive narrative experience.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work closely with the key project leaders and developers to ensure the creative vision is reflected throughout all aspects of the project, from early concepts to final production.
  • Innovative Leadership: Guide the team in exploring new creative ideas and game mechanics that push the boundaries of gameplay, storytelling, and player immersion.
  • Narrative and World-Building Oversight: Ensure the narrative direction, world-building, and character development align with the core themes of the game and resonate with our fans.
  • Creative Team Management: Inspire, mentor, and provide leadership to a multi-disciplinary team of Designers, Writers, and Artists. Encourage a collaborative environment where ideas can flourish and your team can do their best work.
  • Commitment to Quality: Ensure a high-quality experience that exceeds industry standards for AAA games. Provide feedback and direction throughout the production process to maintain consistency in the game's tone, style, and player experience.
  • Project Milestones: Collaborate with production teams to ensure the project meets creative and technical milestones while adhering to budgets and timelines.
  • Adapt to Player Feedback: Analyze and incorporate player and market feedback into the creative direction post-launch to enhance and update the game experiences.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree in Computer Science, Art, Writing, Behavioral Science, Game Design, or related field AND 8+ years experience in game development and design, systems design, content production, or related field
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Art, Writing, Behavioral Science, Data Science, Game Design, or related field AND 6+ years experience in game development and design, systems design, content production, or related field
      o OR equivalent experience.
  • Have shipped at least 2 title released to consumers/shipped game.
  • 6+ years of experience guiding the creative process for major game releases from concept to launch, with a deep understanding of game design, art, and narrative development.
  • 6+years of experience in leadership and people management, including demonstrated ability lead multi-disciplinary teams.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 12+ years of experience in game development, with a strong track record of leadership on AAA titles as a Creative Director or in a senior creative role.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing engaging, immersive worlds and compelling storylines that drive player engagement and emotional investment.
  • Experience working with both traditional and cutting-edge game development tools and technologies.
    Experience with Unreal Engine, Unity, or other modern game engines.
  • Communication and presentation skills with the ability to clearly articulate and advocate for creative vision to both internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with marketing and publishing teams to ensure the creative vision aligns with broader company goals.
  • A passion for video games and a deep understanding of current trends in the industry.
Game Design IC6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $286,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $314,400 per year.
