Job Description
Situation, a digital-first agency building passionate communities for live experience-based clients like WICKED on Broadway and The Metropolitan Opera, seeks a Production Designer to craft print and digital deliverables that support advertising campaigns. A key aspect of this role is the ability to prepare and release print files and mechanicals. This role will report to the Design Supervisor.
What You’ll Do
The Production Designer works collaboratively with Creative Directors, Art Directors, Copywriters, and other Designers to deliver high-quality graphic designs for print and digital mediums, in addition to print mechanicals that meet various specifications.
Our office is located in midtown Manhattan and we are currently working in-office three days per week.
Sample Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Design and adapt layouts for deliverables such as print ads, OOH, direct mail, display media creative, email, and organic and paid social assets
- Ensure designs adhere to client and agency standards and guidelines
- Prepare art mechanicals for print, ensuring proper specifications for size, color, resolution, scaling, and dielines
- Work closely with internal partners, printers, retouchers, and other vendors to ensure high-quality production results
- Review physical proofs and print samples and provide constructive feedback
- Consult on print materials and creative print executions (e.g. paper, inks and printing methods)
- Develop organized and annotated working files that can be used as templates
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to timelines and budgets Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in print design and production
Requirements
- 4+ years experience as a Production and Graphic Designer for print and digital mediums
- Advertising agency, television, or live entertainment experience preferred
- A portfolio showcasing polished, well-thought-out designs in lead and hands-on roles
- Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
- Proficiency in print production, including but not limited to OOH, direct mail, and traditional publication placements
- Expertise in preparing and troubleshooting print-ready files and mechanicals
- An eagle eye for spotting alignment issues and inconsistencies
- Strong sense of typography
- Familiarity with retouching and digital compositing
- Ability to work to deadlines and on multiple projects simultaneously Strong communication and and presentation skills
