Job Summary/Description:

KKTV is looking for a self-motivated, aggressive, enterprising journalist. The ideal candidate will be adept at anchoring breaking news and enterprising investigative stories. Anchors at KKTV are newsroom leaders. As a morning anchor, you must excel at developing sources and cultivating relationships in the community. We are looking for a journalist who is determined to help our station win on every platform, every single day.

Duties/Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Must participate in editorial meetings
  • Develop lead story ideas and contribute daily to content decisions
  • Anchor newscasts, read scripts, and report on special projects as assigned
  • Report live from the field for both planned and breaking coverage.
  • Own big stories by developing contacts with local newsmakers, sources, and experts, and help enterprise community stories
  • Conduct live interviews and anchor continuous or breaking coverage
  • Represent the station in the community and for various promotional events
  • Writes stories, teases, and other important content to contribute to the overall quality of the newscasts - identify, develop, and schedule shoots
  • Approving scripts for air as assigned
  • Become brand ambassadors ensuring our final product meets our expectations
  • Come in prepared and on air ready to head out the door
  • Shoot, write, and edit content for website and social
  • Write and post real-time updates on digital and social platforms
  • Engage the audience through social channels
  • Produce Instagram reels/TikTok when appropriate
  • Help identify streaming opportunities on the web and social media
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of experience as a news anchor
  • College degree or equivalent job experience in a journalism-related field
  • Must be able to work quickly, meet deadlines, multi-task, and show composure, especially during high-pressure breaking news situations
  • Clear understanding of journalistic ethics
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Understanding of and adherence to AP Style and broadcast writing
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including representing the station at community events
