The New York Post is seeking a temporary **Photo Assistant (M-F, 10am-6pm)** to support its A lexaMagazine team.

We’re looking for a highly motivated individual who can juggle multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. We are a fast moving team working persistently under deadline. We place a very strong emphasis on time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks by urgency and time to completion. An editorial background is preferable. A self-starter mindset is essential.

**_Note: The position is 5 days/week from January through May._**

This is **NOT** a photography based role. This is a desk-based photo editing position.

**Responsibilities include:**

+ Sourcing photography via photo agencies and publicists with content spanning fashion, lifestyle, art, entertainment

+ Promptly process a large number of images with the utmost efficiency – this includes but is not limited to batch resizing, batch renaming and logging thorough information into the metadata to support cross-functional teams

+ Punctually organize a large number of images in the digital database by way of thorough captioning, maintaining group project folders, effectively organizing content within such folders, and last but not least independently reorganizing those folders as the stories develop from the beginning to end

+ Communicate clearly and punctually with the team on a daily basis, keeping track of many conversations simultaneously on varying platforms

+ Collect all photo credits for Print Issues, independently ensuring accurate spelling and notation for each and every one; actively monitor photos and credits on the layout from beginning to end

+ Assist the Photo Editor with Shoot Production as needed – securing locations and crew, gathering info and composing callsheets, catering, messengers

**The ideal candidate will have/be:**

+ At least 2 years of experience (preferably editorial) with a multi-platform media digital/print brand

+ Self starter with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, working often under pressure

+ Keen ability to multi-task, and independently problem solve; Think: If something is not readily available, how else are you able to source it?

+ Intuitively pursue out-of-the-box resources, self-initiate research and fact-check your content often/as needed

+ Knowledge of photography and a strong visual sensibility

+ Excellent content judgment with knowledge of entertainment, fashion and news

+ Proven research skills, including newsgathering, fact checking and social media tools

+ Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, WordPress, Digital Asset Management

Pay Range: $26.00 per hour – $31.00 per hour
