The Associate Art Director is a craftsperson who supports the Creative team by flawlessly executing project-related tasks. Continuously works to develop concepting and execution skills. Exhibits professional and motivating behavior.
Responsibilities:The Craft
- Concept Development: Learns to develop concepts by following brand style sheets and guidelines to execute professional-grade layouts
- Artistic Contribution: Becomes familiar with concept process; approaches tasks with wide creative perspective
- Breadth of Skills: Is actively learning and using new technologies and design techniques
- Learning Culture: Open to direction and actively pursues learning opportunities to learn subject matter knowledge from others across Creative team
Tactics and Execution
- Execution: Closely supports Creative team by diligently and flawlessly executing on assigned area of project. Able to manage time efficiently and prioritize; completes tasks with significant supervision
- Internal Relationships: Develops strong and positive working relationships within the creative and studio departments; also works to learn key people and roles in all departments (account, media, motion media, etc.)
- Concept Communication: Observes how to articulate client’s objectives and observes how to present to internal teams
- Teamwork: Learns to concept with creative partners
- Project Overview: Learns to work on projects from concept to finish and support ideas with creative assets
- Communication: Possesses active listening skills
Client Relationship/Client Management
- Communication: Develops knowledge of client business and learns to articulate status to internal team
- Writing: Has fundamental business writing skills
Knowledge
- Agency process: Learns how the agency works and how creative jobs flow through the agency.
- Solution oriented: Utilizes resources to solve problems; knows when to bring problems to the attention of management/ask for help
- Client: Learns brand’s strategic drivers, target audience requirements and competitive set and starts to learn how that applies to the creative product
- Technology: Continuously learning technology
- Media: Learns about all media (video, print, interactive, etc.) and how art direction applies to all
- Marketing: Starts to learn about branding, brand guidelines and creative briefs
- Impeccable typographical skills and a disciplined eye for visually organizing information and motion graphic treatments.

- Proof of conceptual ability in art (any medium – not necessarily advertising)
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in art direction, graphic arts, graphic design and illustration, digital media, or a related artistic discipline
- Must have knowledge of graphic design tools specifically Adobe Suite and keen understanding of the application of HTML/DHTML, Flash, and online video
- 1-2 years of experience (Agency internship experience a plus)

Compensation Range: $51,000-$75,000 annually. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time.
